Sir Landon Of Donovan

I just don't think he's what we need anymore.... We are a team going forwards not backwards.

I don't think he's coming back, so it doesn't matter to me. But your debates in this thread kinda make me laugh because they continually underrate him.

I honestly don't think he's as good as you think he is... I'm sorry if that offends you.

It doesn't offend me.

But it is laughable that someone is actually trying to make a case that he's not that good. His two loan spells PROVED that he could (and did) do the business for us.

To say otherwise is just simply someone on a windup.

I know, I'll go tell everyone in the Barkley thread that he just isn't that good and he makes mistakes on the pitch so that makes my "case."

Kurt, I don't know how to break it to you but.........you're dead wrong on this one.

Sorry.

Ok bill.

Doesnt matter if he doesn't fit the system , you're argument is based purely on your own opinion.

He (and the rest of the USMNT, but definitely Donovan) has adapted to Klinsmann's system quite well. A lot more possession and attacking. No more parking the bus against the teams that are 'better than you'. You could say that it's been a very Evertonian transition, or that Everton is having a US Soccer-like transition, depending on your worldview.

I see no evidence that says he wouldn't do well under Martinez's system either.

I don't think we'd need him anymore.

Sorry chaps, but the Landon ship has sailed. He was good for us and we made an impression on him, but we had some good times that should be remembered, not tried to be recreated.

Injuries can (and will) happen. When the FA Cup starts up and the schedule gets a bit more congested for us does coincide nicely with MLS's break period.

As the roster sits right now, yeah I don't think it'd be worth getting him either, but I can easily see how the situation would develop.

And that again is just your opinion..... And one you are fully entitled to.... As I am entitled to mine.

So if I say that he's getting older and probably not any better with time, and he might not benefit us right now, at all, and he won't come to us for more than 3 months anyway - I'm on the wind up.

Well that makes sense.
