Sir Landon Of Donovan

Jesus Azz....

Back on topic, Donovan coming back now wouldn't improve Everton. He was superb on his first loan. He was pretty good on his second loan. But that was what, 2 seasons ago now? Does he still have the pace to beat his man? Full backs have evolved, even in the last two years. The pace of the game has gotten even quicker and I just don't think he'd have anywhere near the same effect on the team.

Why tarnish the good memories we have of him if a third loan didn't work out?

He'd probably be fine as a squad option but what is the point in bringing in a squad option for 10 weeks? If you're looking for squad numbers, get someone on loan til the end of the season or get someone in on a permanent deal.

The ship has sailed on this I believe (I think I've said that 7 or 8 times).

Having said that, Donovan may not walk into our starting 11 from the start but saying he wouldn't fit this Martinez style of playing is fairly ridiculous given his experience and skill level.

I said he might not be the perfect fit for it, e.g. there might be player that will suit it more, are younger and won't cost as much.

And that again is just your opinion..... And one you are fully entitled to.... As I am entitled to mine.

True.

Except my opinion is based on facts and observations with my own eyes (and the eyes of the vast majority of Evertonians incidentally)

Yours is based on ???? Wait, wait...let me guess !!!

1) He's American

2) He missed a sitter against Spurs

3) Ummmm...He's American?

Most of what's been posted about him in here slating him about his time at Everton fits that description.

He ain't coming back. No one is saying he's coming back to my knowledge. I doubt most Evertonians, at this point in his career, want him back (myself included.)

Are we satisfied now?

No bill, my opinion is based on what I see with my own eyes and the conclusions I draw from that.... It doesn't bother me where a player comes from. It's you who seems to have the complex about being American.... I don't think I've mentioned it once. I respect the fact you are a moderator on here and it's a tough job but that doesn't make your opinion more valid than mine just because you say so.

Been saying this for a while, myself.

He excelled for us on both occasions he was here, but we need to move on. Keep the fond memories, but I think the time has now passed.

No.

What makes my opinion (and once again....the VAST MAJORITY of Evertonians who watched Landon Donovan play for us) valid and yours invalid is that you have no factual basis on which to base your opinion. None.

So one can only conclude that you have an ulterior motive or that you have incredibly poor eyesight. The American bit was in jest but then again....

I guess one could try to make a case or have an opinion right now that Ross Barkley just isn't very good, is overrated, and hasn't done very well for us despite all the evidence to the contrary. They'd be dead wrong but one could try.
