Thin end of the wedge joey, you got to live with it
GOT costs money
Ads pay money
=Ads on the page
Its the cost of being on here

Though me personally would prefer the flat rectangular ads over the small sq. Ones that compress the page in...all the names and such guff are just filler...though i dare say sq. Ads may pay more
*shrugs
What ya gonna do?
The GOT reckons it's a trail no income as yet

How come when i look at the forum now I have a big box on the right telling me who is on line? with Grand Old Team stats under it? they way the place appears has changed for some reason?

Big advert there now!

..it’s awful, makes it feel like you’re posting in a postage stamp. I appreciate the site might need income but surely there’s a better way of showing adverts than significantly impacting the look and functionality.

...once you’re past the advert, a third of the page on the right is white space.

A trial eh?... I think the Scotish verdict of - 'Not Proven' applies
@GrandOldTeam; we understand the reasons, but squashed up threads, big white spaces?

A sidebar throughout forums is pretty common - it's never been on GOT before beyond the home page because I've always needed to limit the information "pulled" per page to keep the site online - some will recall when the site used to crash whenever Everton scored a goal, or conceded...

Anyway, I saw a sidebar on an Arsenal forum and it included things like the league table and various other bits (like login/register section on our most active pages) and it worked quite well I'm just testing core functionality before developing it - if we continue with a sidebar, it'll be user collapsible (so you can close it) and it wont have the white space that currently exists.

It's not revenue driven, if it was we'd just slot an advert right aligned to the top post of every thread.

I think the data the sidebar uses (members online etc I understand is quite a resource hog) will mean it'll likely be binned anyway.

As above re white space.

I've realised over 10+ years of this gaff, Evertonians dont like change so dont waste time developing something until you at least know it's functional - as above, I just want to track server usage first.

I like it.

As above re white space.
Add more useful links (like the everton news section that is currently there) with maybe links to the most recently active threads (like recent posts) and move all adverts into the scroll bar (and don't make it collapsible).

For the love of god though don't include in the mobile version of the site.

Just looked, you had to active warnings for language and a third triggered the suspension.

They expire;

Will get around to making it so users can see their own warnings on their profile soon.

..have to say, i’m not keen. I used to develop information/MI Portals in government and the function bars were invariably on the top. Members on line etc is already available on the forums homepage, not sure of the need to see it permanently even if you can collapse the side bar.

I agree about change being unpopular, but this seems like change rather than enhancement. Just my opinion.

I'm obviously the only person on the site who likes it and want to add more to the sidebar lol
