..have to say, i’m not keen. I used to develop information/MI Portals in government and the function bars were invariably on the top. Members on line etc is already available on the forums homepage, not sure of the need to see it permanently even if you can collapse the side bar.

I agree about change being unpopular, but this seems like change rather than enhancement. Just my opinion.

Agree mate, still need to enhance it though (with widgets etc). It would never stay 'as is' as it offers very little, too much whitespace and is a resource drain

...it’s a fine site but I must admit there’s very little I personally use on the toolbar (mark forums read; search forums; watched forums; watched threads; recent posts; new posts). I’m probably unique in that respect but it would be interesting to know what functions are commonly used.

Me either.

I removed them a while back but was surprised how many fumed to bring them back - particularly 'new Posts'

See this: https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/recent-and-new-posts.78648/

1.82% of all our page views across the site in January occurred on New Posts.

Not unique at all eggs it's the same here, I'm also an old git and I'm not savvy enough or interested in using those functions.

Stuck in a loop here.

Can't shift the notification for a PM - been 20 minutes and the same posts on the home page i.e. Poster X posted 1 minute ago in Y thread even though I've refreshed a few times now.
