My wife has just been diagnosed with a prolapsed disc in her back. She has been in agony and crying with the pain. The doctor keeps changing her tablets around but nothing seems to work. Just wondering if anyone has any advice to give cheers.

Thanks for that . She has actually had about 4 sessions with a chiropractor but after about a day the pain came back. She is hoping to have some physio shortly and is going on stronger tablets today but thanks anyway Al your advice is much appreciated. ?
On and off slipped disc for decades. A useful tip from a physio years ago is sleeping with a rolled up towel sideways under the small of the back. Whether on your back or side it helps preserve and restore your lordosis - s shaped natural curvature of the spine. Takes time. I have alocal osteopath who terrifies me moving things around, but does good. Don't run before you can walk. Walk when you can, and also sit with a small cushion in small of the back. Best wishes. It can be miserable.

Alan Gordon and Howard Schubiner are good people to read up on also for chronic pain issues. They've done a lot of groundbreaking work in this area and each have their own books out about it. They've also done an app called Curable which is pretty good. Gordon also does a podcast called Tell Me About your Pain, which is good.

My appointment for 2 injections in the spine last Thursday was cancelled due to the consultant having Covid. Have to wait for another appointment, hopefully wont belong as its done through the work's private health scheme. Today is probably the worst I have been in weeks as had a 11 hour sleep which did not help at all , one good thing is I am not tired :D

Keep moving around mate as much as you can, I found sitting the worst, or standing in the one spot for any length of time. What is your job? Spinal injections will help with pain, but you will have to do exercises to strengthen muscles around your spine, swimming good and walking i found. All the best mate.
