I'm a smoker, not particularly bothered by smoking rooms/outdoors at bars etc but people getting on their highhorse and shoving their opinions down my (black) throat pisses me off a fair bit (especially people I don't know when I'm trying to enjoy my Friday night!) - I don't lecture teenage mums, drop-outs, coke-fiends or people that don't support Everton (much), clearly bigger issues!.

The 9 billion+ taxes generated from ciggies cover a hell of a lot for the general public, not just smokers, if we didn't smoke, think about the ways the govt would find to tax you more to cover for their lost revenue!...

I'm 25, play football & rugby and work out 3 times a week minimum - so I'd dare say I'm probably still fitter than most non-smokers anyways...

Besides, the Death Clock's got me living to 80!...

if a mate of yours was a coke-fiend you wouldn't say anything to him about it?

And do knives, pipes, bongs, buckets, and maybe the odd straight to (occasionally when the need arises) actually class anyone as being a smoker?

ah i know what you mean. "You know that thing can kill you right?" "Whaaa are you serious? this is the first i'm hearing about tabacco's dangers, thank you so much for turning my life around"
 
I'm an evil smoker I'm afraid. The problem in DK is that that fags are cheap as well.

But I don't smoke weed and hash anymore, not since I was deprived of it for a few days and found life much better without it.

A fair whack of that though goes on health issues that are a direct result of smoking

you chaps that have given up smoking ....

what did you use , if anything , to help you quit ?
do you still get cravings ?
how long did you go before you saw yourself as a proper ex smoker ?
was there any situations which made giving up harder ? ie at the pub etc
what was the main benefit from quiting ?

getting this sort of info i hope will help when i give up.

True, but in most cases, the person will smoke for 30/40 years of their life before encountering any complications.

In the meantime, relaying of roads, paying our armed forces and every little kid that gets his arm put in a cast is covered in no small part from the extra taxes we* pay.


*haven't lived in the UK since 2001 so now I'm helping cover Singaporeans instead - taxes are perhaps even harsher over here.
