Some optimism...

Kone and Barry looked great when they were subbed back on yesterday. It's weird that Barry's never been tried up front before, he looked a natural. Also weird that I don't remember him being subbed off in the first place, and that all the colour had drained from Arouna's face when he re-emerged.

Was still enough to get me excited. 'Mon the Blues!

I see no reason to be depressed with the prospects of the coming season. Sort out a couple of players - which he inevitably will - and we'll make a decent top half place come what may.

Mind you, I can see how anyone would feel that way if they read half the stuff posted. There's way too many people who take joy in any 'reversal' of any description because it's another stick to beat the manager. Then there's those easily swayed to believe it's all rubbish at the minute.

We look like like we will keep our squad together . Clearly Roberto can see that we need some more decent players to bolster the squad . If we can some of this and I think we will then it may all click for us . Barkley looks rested and ready as does Baines and cleverly looks like a good addition .. Also some good youngsters coming through in Galloway , browning , McAleny and Dowell .... Lots of positives and remember this is Everton ... We always have hope ... For me important at home for everyone to get behind the team this year and less moaning from the stands. Here's to a good season. COYB !!

This is our best squad since the 80's. We just need to improve in a few areas to make sure their potential is fulfilled. It's frustrating being an Evertonian in this era because we want success and as a club (prior to the PL era), we have had a great history of success even if it hasn't been continuous like Man United and Liverpool have had it.

We're in a much better position than 10 years ago and we look to be bringing through some talented youngsters.

It could be a whole lot worse. Imagine being a Leeds fan. A lot of them are deluding themselves they will come back up to the big time as they "bossed" a poor Everton side. Ignoring the fact that we had a lot of young lads out there. They also had 17,000 for a game against a Premier League team and the local media was making out it was something to be in awe of.

We've got the best crop of young players in a very long time. Hopefully we'll see a couple of them stake a real claim for first team action this season. Lets face it, the only chance we've got of breaking the stranglehold of the top four is to have a 'golden generation' of youngsters come through. Wouldn't it be ace if we have just that.
