Interesting stat on bbc today; £500m spent by premier league clubs this summer. That is an average £25m each club yet we have spent just £4m despite last season being awful and us clearly lacking options at centre back and up front.
There is a difference between optimism and delusion. We are going to struggle again - mark my words.
 
Im always optimistic at the start of a season. If baines and coleman find the form they're capable of we can challenge the top 4 again. Just as important for me is we'd be an exciting team to watch

£500 mill spent, heck half of that or near it must have been Liverpool!!?
 
We desperately need another CB, cant expect Jags and Stones to play all season? Unless he really is confident in the youth CBs?

And a goalkeeper please, fed up of flappy arms at it in goal.

Is that 500m net spend or 500m before player sales?
 
A lot of our first choice players have knocks or hammy injuries and the season hasn't even kicked off. I'm not naturally inclined toward glass half empty mentality but at the moment, my glass defo needs a top up. Could be in for a loooong season.
 

I'm normally optimistic at the start of every season but this one I'm the complete opposite. Cant see us getting relegated or anything but I can see us being completely woeful. Please let me be wrong.
 
i'm still waiting to see what our squad is at the end of the window before saying anything.

it's only really the playmaker that will make a difference. all our other signings are rotation at best i believe - with deulofeu possibly becoming a regular if he plays to potential straight away. got too many centre mids for cleverley to be a regular i think.
