If you asked me before the game I would have said I would be disappointed with a draw but after the 1st half display I'm satisfied we didn't lose. We still should have made our 2nd half chances count though.

I've been backing Jelavic to find his form again but I think now might be the time to drop him for Anichebe at least against Bolton. Give Mirallas a 45 minute run out and we should have enough to beat Bolton, but based on last night I'm not so sure. We seem jaded and new signings are becoming increasingly important.

Also, it's another week of recovery for Gibson before our next premier league match and hopefully he'll soon be making a return.

Last night was a worrying performance IMO.

1st half was frankly unacceptable. Not only did we show bugger all going forward, we invited them onto us and did exactly what we shouldn't have done - give them encouragement. If we'd gone in 3-0 down we'd have had very few complaints. A better 2nd half where we almost nicked an undeserved win. No, a 0-0 isn't the worst result and I'm rational enough to know it's not suddenly the end of the world. But that's now 4 points dropped in the last 2 games.

Jelavic, while generally crap, was being forced to vacate the position he should be playing too much and this is happening more and more. We need him up top, not floating about on the wing.

Fellaini hasn't been the same player since the Stoke red card. Been fairly average the past few games since coming back.

Osman had one of his poorest games in months, but I'm willing to let that one go due to how good he's generally been this season. Let's hope it was a blip.

Generally the defence did alright but they were helped by some poor Southampton finishing.

Anichebe and Mirallas (providing the latter is fit) should start the next game.

So, while not disastrous, last night equally was just not good enough. We need to beat West Brom. But first, let's not give Bolton a win, ey?

Agreed. We came out in the second half and knocked it about causing them no end of problems. Then it was back to long/direct passing/hoofing.

For all of Jags and Distins defensive qualities their want to 'launch it' aimlessly and on a regular basis is very frustrating.

Get well soon Gibbo!!!!

I seen some stats 55 times we hoofed it long!

Jelavic is still our best striker and despite a poor game last night and missing a chance he should be burying, he didn't get much service. If Mirallas is now fit and going to start, i think thats going to help Jelavic a lot. When everyone is fit, Jealvic players well and scores goals. With him it's all about the supply he gets, so Victor should have started last night

Bad day at the office - could and probably should have lost for the bottle job first half. Were as inept and fightless as we were when we played* Reading.
Its a point away at a seemingly doomed side that are in all honesty pretty crappy unless we are in the mood for making them look like 1970 Brazil. 500k - 2 million is looking good business for Man Utd regarding Gibson all of a sudden.

*Rolled over like a fat cheap hooker.

So Moyes plays Jelavic in virtually every game for 75+ mins since he's signed and the first time he takes him off early it's bad management?

!!! LINE UP ALERT LINE UP ALERT !!!

I'd like to see this next game, fitness permitting:

Howard

Coleman - Jagielka - Distin - Baines

Neville - Osman

Mirallas - Fellaini - Pienaar

Anichebe

We've been relying on Osman pretty much all season. With Fellaini playing further up he's the one that has to take the ball from the centre backs and run around in a little circle to get us higher up the pitch. Without that we quickly revert back to the big one from Jagielka, the chip up the line from Neville or the Leighton can you take everyone on and win the game please mate. It makes us very predictable and generally easy to defend against.

It's not surprising really that he should have a little period where people can actually tackle him, in fact I'd say Leon's done well to be as consistent as he has been.

I agree with all this Brownz.

It was just his timing of it. He's waited all this time to take him off/change things, but does so just as Mirallas - perhaps our most progressive forward-minded player aside from the CFs - comes onto the pitch.
