Thank you for the welcome everyone.

Koeman will play youngsters, but only if they are ready. He is not a development manager. He will play wunderkids, he wont play any that need work. We very much went backward in that regard but as I stated, we do currently have a weaker intake, might be different if yours are of higher quality.
We do have a great crop of academy kids plus some very promising u21 players

I hope he continues to progress this area of our Club

We are not surprised he is leaving, we're not surprised that you are seen as a draw above us (aside from the last two seasons), we just didn't think he in particular would use another stepping stone to get where he wants to be.

Firstly, Ronald Koeman has achieved absolutely nothing in the game to earn his spot among potential future candidates for the Barca job.

What's baffling with Saints fans is that you obviously have a short memory. Probably the shortest in the world of football.

Since 1998, Bill Kenwright took over a club that he could not afford, 10 years before we were champions of England, 5 years before we were FA Cup winners. What happened was a club that was HIGHLY hamstrung in the transfer market, because he had no money to spend. It was like buying a house and not being able to afford anything to put in it. Despite this, Everton were operating on a budget of a wage bill that averaged 7th highest in the Premier league.

Everton positions under a skint owner in past 10 seasons BEFORE Martinez's two bad seasons.
2005 - 4th
2006 - 11th
2007 - 6th
2008 - 5th
2009 - 5th
2010 - 8th
2011 - 7th
2012 - 7th
2013 - 6th
2014 - 5th

Now that is a club with NO INVESTMENT. The very reason Everton dropped to 11th in the past two seasons is the stubbornness and adeptness of one man ROBERTO MARTINEZ. He did get the backing ironically in the past 3 seasons, more than Moyes ever did.

When Everton DID have investment between 1960s - early 90s, they won league titles. Before 1994 Everton had won more league titles than Manchester United.

NOW, with Kenwright aging and illness he has finally decided to give up his power to a multi billionaire. It is either your ignorance or the anger overcoming your thoughts. But Everton certainly to have the potential to be at the elite IF the investment is right. It's happened 9 times before. Only Liverpool, Arse and Man utd have finished in the top 4 more times than Everton. Arsenal only JUST overtook Everton in finishing in the top 4 recently despite finishing in the top 4 for the past 20 years in the a row.

BEFORE Abramovich Chelsea had won ONE league title in it's entire history. Before The Sheiks Man City had only won TWO league titles in their entire history. If them clubs can be transformed from perennial no hopers, then so can Everton who are traditionally bigger than them and have still won as many titles as them two clubs combined despite again... NO Investment in past 20 years.

Hopefully we can move stadium fairly soon, to that 55,000 - 60,000 stadium. Then Koeman won't be thinking about Arsenal, but where he really wants to go and that is Barcelona.

Sorry to burst your bubble and I hope Southampton continue to improve and stay in the top 10. But Southampton to Barcelona is too big a step up. If we continued to have NO investment, then it would have been a sideways move. But unfortunately for you, and fortunately for us We finally have someone investing again. The shackles are unleashed. Trouble is, Spurs, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Man Utd, and Liverpool all have money too. What it means is that it's exciting times ahead.

Good luck with the Saints. Personally I would have preferred Emery or FDB or even Pellegrini. I can understand the anger of Saints fans, but can't understand the ignorance.

Martinez has put me off philosophies for life. Not sure the great Brian Clough had one other than "pass the ball to someone wearing the same coloured shirt" and "if God had wanted us to play up there (in the air) he would have put grass there"
He's taken the real meaning of phenomenal outta the word

Im just gonna leave this here :

It wasn't so long ago some on here thought Martinez May of been a future candidate for Barcelona manager

Disagree
Every club has a philosophy or plan
Even Pullis had one at Stoke, albeit a long ball
Yes, but that was the Pulis way, not the Stoke way.
I don't think many clubs have a philosophy. West Ham's is based around the only time in their history when they won stuff - two knock out based trophies in succession.

I think moving into the new stadium and finding 2 good managers I think there is a buoyancy around the place, and rightly so.
But as you point out a non existent trophy haul

I always hear the comment about sleeping Giants in the game, we are not sleeping just having 40 winks.
Hopefully our time is about to come round......hopefully

Up until the last few seasons we have traditionally been pr

I agree with most of what you said I thought I spelled it out when I said that we are aware you are historically a much bigger club and that you have a bigger draw? Sorry if not clear, it was a long post. I think its a good move for everyone, Koeman gets a big pay packet to restore you to where you feel you belong, his stock goes up as a result with what in some ways is an easier job at Everton based on the fact that we are over performing relative to our size and you are under performing relative to yours. He will expect to improve you whereas he may have felt he has taken us as far as he can. This move raises his profile further, gives him big wage increase and keeps his stock high whilst he waits for clubs in the level above yours. I have my reservations that he is buying into a long term project there but time will tell.

Not bursting a bubble, as I said, I don't necessarily see him at Barcelona on his managerial record, purely based entirely on his links with the club, he is an icon there. It's just where he sees himself. I agree its exciting times ahead and you will forgive us if we don't roll over and just give you our hard won gains back!. Like I said, all teams will be very competitive, the draw to England and the money all teams have now will balance out the playing field and we have a huge challenge to improve for an 8th straight season.

For what its worth one of our ITK's has hinted strongly at Andre Villas Boas, I'm taking it with a pinch of salt though as he is on shutdown whilst this deal is finalised. Fans seem to want FDB, not sure how I feel really pros and cons for both, don't think its impossible, the draw of Premier League money is insane now. Interesting times for all ahead.

Im not angry by the way, Id say I'm pretty content as Im not sold on him but not all saints fans share my point of view. Looking forward to a change.

West Ham fans of a certain era will talk about the great team they had, and the effect it had on the club. They will tell you they were brought up with teams that wanted to play football, and that's what they would love to see week in week out. It is not a philosophy it is the results from a certain era.
We have it as well, 1 era will talk about the days of the holy trinity, the next era talk about the great footballing side. Of the mid 80's - we all want this again, not a philosophy, just simply an ask for what we have seen
Philosophy is the new word handed about for how we want our club and how we want to play and promote

I guess if we talk philosophies our moto may of been the first

lol at the things they are coming out with to make themselves feel better

"The thing is that Merseyside is yesterdays place. Regardless of the political attempts to stop it there is and has been a demographic shift from North to South and this is continuing. You only have to look at property prices to see where people want to live. South Hampshire general population now is roughly the same (or maybe even larger) as Merseyside in a slightly smaller area. Granted the area has to grow into its status in terms of facilities and self belief but it will happen. Given ten years the difference will be marked an in favour of South Hampshire."

You can take our manager but our houses are worth more lol
