I'm just looking forward to actually playing meaningful games against teams in Europe mate, anyone who thinks that playing the likes of a Inter, Benfica, Fiorentina, Celtic, Galatasaray, Porto, Juventus, Valencia in Eufa knock out games won't be fantastic for us is a bit deluded.

Some of the proudest moments of being a blue came watching us against Bayern in the 'second rate cup' winners cup and against fiorentina at home in the 'meaningless' eufa.

The ECWC was rated only marginally behind the Champions Cup in those days, given that only the top side of each country went into the latter, not the top 3 or 4 as now, meaning that invariably the sides in the ECWC would be top sides.

Tbh Legs, I thought that Alcaraz's WAS a handball. Anyway, all water under the bridge now. But I do get the feeling that Soton have a particularly competitive edge when they play us. Imo, I think they see us as the benchmark 'best of the rest' and they want that. Pochettino v RM is a battle within a battle. Over there respective future careers, I think we will see a LOT of rivalry (not friendly either)
Agree on the rivalry, at least from Pochettino. Oh well, at least can look forward to some good games played with a lot of youngsters in both sides. And given the penalty/handball shouts in this game as well there could be a bit of tension re ref calls in the next match as well.

Don`t get to many games nowadays, and wished i hadn`t have bothered today. It was as bad as it gets, lots of fans leaving with 15 mins to go tells its own story. The only plus, was yet another outstanding performance from John Stones, OK he made his usual couple of errors, but in comparison he was excellent.
A quick apology to Romelu Lukaku who after heading straight at the keeper in the second half, didn`t get the reaction he wanted from his little battle cry, most of us were still stunned by all your ineptness!!!
At the end only Seamus and Stones applauded the fans with any conviction, we deserved a bit better than that after that display.
Never mind Citeh next and a fight for 5th.

Hi saints fan in peace, been on here last couple of seasons and always keen to see opposition fans view on the match. Good luck in last couple if games. Have to say you were particularly poor today and happy with the points you gave us.

Dead easy for you. We even scored the goals for you.

You looked more arsed than us so no complaints score wise.

Cheers if you believe the press we will be losing our entire squad, youth team, manager and coaching and back room staff, it would be great to build on this season, I guess wait and see. Mutual respect though as Everton are a model club in a lot of ways. All best

Great the way the media are trying to sell your players for you too. I hope you get the chance to grow your team mate. Don't mean to offend but you have flattered to deceive this season. But that's only because most times I've seen you this season you've looked like you could be right up there.

No offence meant lad but i know exactly how good the Cup winners was a s a comp, and I can yell you right now the current Eufa cup more often than not has semi's and finals of as good a standard of team as that comp used to have.

As for some teams not taking it seriously, when united beat Barca in the final of the ECWC i remember a utterly half hearted and weakened Barca team being played due to it being completely not arsed with it

Let's hope Newcastle beat Arsenal! Can't help thinking that we should have kept hold of Jelavic until the end of the season!
