...agree with all the sentiments about being thin on the ground up-front. Incredible to think we have done so well with only one recognised Centre Forward available all season. Beyond that I don't think we are too badly off, including in the Centre Back department.

One point I would make is about the attitude of loanees, and in particular Lukaku and Deulofeu. I just wonder if they are at a stage in this season when their minds are more on what they'll be doing and where they will be come August.

This really. For whatever reason Lukaku and Deulofeu had stinkers. The squad is stretched to the limit and Barry is ineligible next week (he was poor too yesterday). There is almost nothign to come off the bench and for that I'd have Naismith back as sub.

Hopefully one of Jags or Distin wil be back to boost the back 4.

If they have any aspirations to maintain or even improve their status in football I think they should be busting
their guts to impress and raise their profile.

There's a suggestion that Del' could be back next season. Well, if he is I'd expect Roberto to spend the Summer getting him to think more about the way he operates and get the bad habits out of his game. He's a very talented lad but he needs to mature, and quickly.

Our thin squad have been exposed yesterday - we simply don't have the fire power off the bench to make a big impact and turn games around.
Our main weakness on the pitch remains the lack of a creative nr 10 feeding the striker(s)and penetrating defences -
Our second weakness is the lack of a second striker to change tactics if necessary -
Our cornertaking and set pieces needs to improve drastically - when last have we scored from a corner?
I get very nervous when we are defending corners however - the reason for both must be the lack of a good header of the ball or two -Distin ,Stones and Jagielka just do not score enough -we have 2 short wing backs to add to that.
Everton have had a wonderfull season if you look at what Martinez had to work with compared to the other top 7 teams - but we need to strengthen our squad if we want to become title contenders.

Very well summed up. We have scored some good goals this season and had more 3+ goal games than usual but from the start of the season our main problem has been creativity in the final third.

Riquelme is the answer!

Our squad is very thin especially at the back plus a very young team still learning and developing. If we can keep them together and sign a couple of players we could progress a little higher. Big summer for us.

like all clubs we have some pretty tw@ish fans, trust me walking to the game yesterday some of your fans looked and sounded like extras from Shaun of the dead. It's easy to remember the knobs at a game, vast majority are pretty sound.
Of course you are right mate. I was being a bit tongue in cheek like....and I like your Shaun of the dead reference lol

Time to sack Brendan Rodgers and get in former England Assistant manager, Tord Grip in at Liverpool. He will ensure that they will hold onto the league.

Was anyone listening to the match on Today FM radio in Ireland by any chance? Ray Houghton was co-commentating if you can call it that, he spent the whole game absolutely slating everton and in particular Deulofeu, fair enough everton and deulofeu deserved critiscism but this was relentless, he even said at one point that he had yet to see everton playing well this season - horrible little toad.............just wondering had anyone else heard him

12:45 away kick-offs this season:

L 3-1 to Man City
L 1-0 to Chelsea
L 4-1 to Arsenal
L 2-0 to Southampton

Also lost 1-0 to Spurs in a 13.30 and beat Fulham 3-1 in our other away 13.30 this season.

Playing away early is never easy nevermind who you're facing. Our performances for large spells of these games were very lacklustre though. Dodgy fixtures aside, we were not really ourselves for large stretches of these matches which is the disappointing thing.

That's an interesting stat. Is it the early kick-off away that causes the problem, or is it merely coincidental and the quality of the opposition in those games (City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Southampton and Spurs are all pretty good) has been the hurdle we couldn't overcome?

Southampton was the worst for me, killed me a bit inside....

One half decent midtable season and you're getting all uppity FFS.

One of dem lads.

A 1-0 loss vs city and a final game hammering of Hull will remedy that result.
