Space and Stuff : It's Big

Yes, it is more vast than most people can truly comprehend. But when you consider that time stops at the speed of light, then it is possible to travel one hundred million light years in less than one second.

Distance isn't the barrier, speed is.
But it doesn't slow down for your family, friends or anyone who sent you off. They'd likely be fossils when you get back a few seconds later with your discovery.

Really piddles cold water onto any hope of space exploration.

The Andromeda galaxy is 6 times bigger in the sky than the full Moon, it's just too dim to see it clearly with the naked eye. This composite image shows what it would look like at night if it was brighter.

That would be nice in the sky. Even with my scope you only really see the blur in the middle.

"Alexa, turn up the brightness of andromeda"

I’ll be honest, I’m pretty obsessed with the scale of the universe, the concept of infinity and other realms/dimensions that almost certainly exist that are outside our ability to detect.

I watched a video on The YouTube recently about the scale of the Milky Way galaxy and they said that if an atom in the Human body was equivalent to the size of Earth, the body would be the size of the galaxy!

One of my favourite thought experiments is trying to imagine the smallest thing possible, and that there probably isn’t a ‘smallest’ thing. In that sense, scale is relative, goes on for infinity and everything is a fluid part of one single thing (the universe).

Aye mate... If we were presented with the actual reality of the universe, we'd probably have to wear a helmet so as to not make a mess when it blows our minds! 😜

Well mate, you'll just need to wait 4 billion years to get a clearer picture!

Apparently the Andromeda galaxy is slowly encroaching on the Milky Way galaxy and in about 4 billion years, they'll both be one gigantic galaxy!

Infinity has to go both ways, which is why we struggle to use comparative measurements, time as distance to be able to understand a vast measurement. Then we stuggle to measure smaller 'size' to infinity.
