Back to what you said - interesting about what you explained - being density. I'd have said it was about the difference between heat and temperature, which is related by mass and specific heat capacity.

I guess we're saying the same thing, as mass and density are related, but don't forget about specific heat of the material too.

You can though, if your hand is clean and dry and you're quick, plunge your hand into and out of a bucket of molten lead (tip; first clean off the scum of impurtities and such off the top)

Now thats an example of heat transfer.
