Space and stuff

As much as we go on about aliens contacting us, I really hope that in a million years, one of the voyagers is found by another Intelligent species and it not only answers their question about whether there is life elsewhere, but they get their answer through hearing Johnny b good. It'll blow their minds (in a good way, not like mars attacks).

If there is a video of a football match on a voyager then the first comment of another intelligent species will be 'we could beat them'.

Why not?

Though I don't buy into the idea that there are other us out there doing incredibly similar things, perhaps an identical world where we paid the rent and the rs never spawned. Nice though that might be to dream, I can't see it. Maybe it's because I have difficulty getting my head around infinity.
A universe where Moshiri is a 'real' billionaire.

Do something we did 50 years ago? Whats the point?
If we can get a facility on or near the moon, it is an ideal staging site for manned (or womanned.....screw it....humanned) voyages into the solar system. The logistics of putting a man on Mars from an earth launch is very costly. If we can get some kind of facility setup on the moon that could provide fuel, then launching from the moon, or lunar orbit means the delta-v available for the mission allows so much more flexibility, which will be required if we are putting humans on these vessels.

Also, it would be a great practice run for a martian base, where redundancy and backup ships aren't an option because of the distances involved. The moon is only a 3 day trip away, so if stuff goes wrong they are much closer to recover from.

#kerbalspeak

Also the fact that they have barely examined the moon, it's pretty big !!!
