An alternative view to the beginnings of our universe.

Very interesting read. I've been in science since I was a lad. I have to say I've grown increasingly uneasy about all these anomalies and exceptions. It seems that if you find something that suggests a physicist is wrong then their stock answer is to go away and find another dimension in mathematics which shows they're right (so long as that dimension exists).

My own thought is that the universe is elegantcand simple- but we just haven't stumbled upon that simple elegant truth yet - we've found approximations.

We are mere grains of sand on a beach.

if that beach was the size of the entire planet and our solar system was the size of one of those grains of sand.

Zezti posted a link to the kurzgesagt videos in the anti-vax thread, they’re a great starting point on anything space. The PBS space time series is another excellent series into anything space related that I’d highly recommend

Statistically it's not just improbable, it's impossible. Basically the Fermi Paradox.

Stats invented by humans though. Science, maths, they all work in our world, cos we invented them, and tested them to the limit of our brain power.

Whats to say there isnt a different set of rules and that, that have been tested and work by creatures occupying a scientific and biological level far beyond ours?

Because it's not actually stats, it's science. There are X number of stars in the known universe that are ideal for life. Of those stars there are Y that have proper conditions that are ideal for life. Of those there are Z that have planets within an ideal range where life could flourish.

And, yes, I will gladly acquiesce that this is all predicated on our understanding of science as it stands right now being correct. You may well be correct; there may well be a ton of variables we may not have thought of and even more that we wouldn't even grasp the fundamental understanding of.
