It'd be a pity to sell naming rights to the new stadium.

"Any cash Everton need to put into project will be offset by naming rights to the new stadium and the sale of Goodison Park, which could raise about £15m."

 :o

To be honest, I'm dead against this..... call it stupid if you will but I'll be damned if I want the ground to be called TESCO STADIUM....

NO!

raise £15 mill, wasnt goodison as she stands now assessed in the region of £12 mill?

If we are to sell the name, then i will produce £3 million and a shiney new penny to name it what i want.

The irony is, there was a time when i was all for it, but the more i read off this the more they are prompting me to be beligerant and dig my heals in for a 'NO' vote.

Suits, I know what you mean. I would prefer to stay in the city boundary but there is no plausible alternative. Liverpool may have various sites but will not help with the finance so!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would attendence go down at Goodison and go up at Kirkby?

The ESPN boys over there were pointing out how almost all of the new stadiums haven't worked out.

They are really pushing to make this one sound good though. Extra $10mil for transfers... Which by 2010 will be good for one average player.

i'd rather have it than not - but it does seem an odd number to pluck from the air...

it that £10million extra going to come from an extra 20k spectators?
it that £10million extra going to come from stadium naming rights?
it that £10million extra going to come from associated developments at the new stadium site?
it that £10million extra going to come from the corporate facilities worked in at the new stadium?

If the extra 10 million is a culmination of all those things, then whats the use, its not enough of a benefit for the cost of all the upheaval.

I dont know if you remeber me saying that a while ago I went to a conference that had the commercial manager of the Emirates stadium doing a talk. He said that from non match day activity (conferences, exhibitions etc etc) Arsenal stood to make 10m a year extra to what they could at highbury.

Larger corporate facilities means more money- larger capacity means more money. We need more money, we need a new stadium.

"* Increased revenue from the new stadium will mean manager David Moyes will have up to £10m a year extra to spend on players."

Well.. the big question.. as Suits states above is where does the £10M revenue come from. Is it from the spectators or is it from non matchday activities?

Is it from the nonday I think it's a fairly big bonus to move, since we should hopefully earn some more in income from ticketsales and so forth. That a new stadium will take a few years to get going and get the fans support isn't strange.

Also I don't much care what the stadium is called, as long as Everton benefit from playing there. I support the club, not the name of the stadium they play in. Sure some names might sound better than others, but it isn't the most important for me. Voting against the move on the single basis that the name of the stadium is bad, is in my eyes not very bright.

Look at recent moves from other clubs- Bolton- Reebok stadium. Arsenal- Emirates stadium. Wigan- JJB stadium. Reading- The Madjeski stadium. Do you find any of those names offensive? Neither do I- I wouldnt mind if we were called the Tesco Stadium, who cares?! if we had a 55,000 all seater stadium that could match any in Europe that meant unrestricted views, larger corpoaret facilities and extra revenue generated I say go for it!

Thats the money side of things and on that you are 100%, but what about the pride what about the history...

my head says yes, my heart says no...

I know what you are saying, I truly do but do you think that the fans of Arsenal who are sat in their plush new stadium are sat there thinking 'highbury was a much better name than the emirates stadium'

I know a few Arsenal fans and they say the Emirates is the bollocks, I want a stadium that people will say 'WOW!' when they walk inside it.

True, and I guess we can call it whatever we want...

I don't think wyness and kenwright should be putting this up for a vote because alot of people are like me and suits and our hearts rule our heads.

It makes good business sense, [Poor language removed] the boundries maps are pointless.

MOVE!

'the carlsberg stadium' ?

if we are going to flog the name, lets get good money for it and try and agree on a name that is something like suitable. and as long as we get a 'trinity end' with statues, then all the better.

my concern at £10 million is where that number has actually come from, will the new stadium and associated business bring in an extra £20 million - and moyes sees half that, the rest going on the mortgage, the rent at finch farm, buying associated grounds so that in future the club will be able to expand the stadium footprint to increase capacity, off field ventures like building a hotel and recreation centre, more 'everton in the community' work, and so forth.

I'll say this much, it isnt worth moving for a paltry £10 million a year.
