On your side on this one Mick. Just the sign of the times and for us to dust off the old and start with a pristine new facility. I just can't see any drawbacks only benefits at this time. Everton will lose the stigmatism of broken down, ancient and so forth. Which many opposing fans remind us constantly about our present diggs. I love Goodison but we are runing out of options and Goodison can't last without some major costly rennovations. I like bright shiny new with cash surplus for exciting new players or keeping the quality we now possess. So Tesco, mesco, fresco who cares what the name is lets get it done and move on. Bully is really going overboard on his massive PR campaign we will see if it captivates all the season ticket holders to slant his way. Only time will tell. I think it is a olive branch myself.(y)

Another aspect of a possibly new stadium is that if it looks great is that it will, probably, be another bonus when searching for new players. I think all players would love to play their homegames in a goodlooking stadium, with good facilities and with their fans behind them.

And if I were in a leading position at Tesco and this move is done. I'd make a small PR stunt and let the public help name the stadium, with the only condition that it would have something to do with Tesco.

I can see a big sign outside with the name: "TofeE SCOres" :P

I hear a new stadium at Kirkby would be called the Tesco Chang Stadium where supporters would walk beneath two large blue and white striped stone elephants at the entrance - reminiscent of the old twin towers of Wembley.

From what I read on the Echo website, the architects have based their plans on the Cologne World cup stadium. If true, YES BLOODY PLEASE and bollocks to the name, as mentioned before, so long as Everton pay there, that is all I care about.

Anyhoo, here is the Cologne stadium:

Could it have any more straight lines? Where is the design? Where is the curves? Looks like a stadium designed during the 80's.

I want something like The Emirates, anything less and I would be happy to stay at Goodison.

Well, you aren't going to please everybody, and frankly, I think that expecting the Emirates, for free is a bit of a long shot.

The new stadium will be traditional in style, eschewing the modern bowl-style arenas to deliver instead a distinct four-sided ground.

And one more:

needs a couple of improvements, instead of large sweeping gradients, there should be a tier system implemented so more of the crowd are closer (MUCH MUCH CLOSER) to the pitch.

lets make it a pressure cooker, so the players, especially robby savage can feel the crowd (chico) on his back and hear every taunt.

Thanks Mick.

Is it really true the only cost could be around 10 million to the club?

Is it true that Tesco is using his contractors to build a 75 million stadium for around 50 million.

Will Davey really get around 10 million from the excess revenue per year for player needs.

Something has to be wrong doesn't it? Maybe I'm to skepticle but I have always been told to be leary of a free lunch and this about amounts to it.

Is there really no plan B?

Last thought. I agree I love the look of the Colonge stadium myself so if its in the ballpark of that it will be smashing. I think this will make a excellent statement to world in general that Everton will hold it place amongst the elite again. A earlier comment summed it up to, players would be extremely interested playing in this new stadium and I'm sure the avid fan would like the facility that would rival some of best in the land. So whats not to like about it besides leaving the City?
