Sports personality of the year

Bruce Wayne

Player Valuation: £100m
Not sure when exactly it is but it's soon, so, who's your pick? For their total domination at both Worlds and Olympics it simply has to be a clean sweep from our cyclists.

Personality: Hoy
Team: Track cycling team with an honourable mention for Man Utd for doing the PL/CL double
Manager: Dave Brailsford

Hopefully with it being an Olympic year we'll honour the Olympians and leave Hamilton out of it. He can get the gong when he wins the title in a crap car or something (y)

Given that BBC have the rights to F1 next year it wouldn't be a surprise if Hamilton won it

My picks:

Sports personality: Chris Hoy
Overseas sports personality: Usain Bolt
Team of the Year: Wales Rugby union team (Grand Slam winners & beat Australia)

It's the skill involved in making split second decisions, the bravery to make often life threatening manouvres.I agree that his car is powerful etc, but he's a relative newcomer to F1, and to win this years championship after narrowly missing out in his debut season is a massive achievement, especially given the strength and experience of other world class drivers drivers.

I'm dismissing other achievements by sportsmen in various fields, Lewis Hamilton just stands out for me.

Just out of interest, may I ask why? I can't fathom why any F1 driver should get it because they rely so heavily on having the best car, or at least a competitive one. It's like giving the gong to a jockey. You just wouldn't would you?

C'mon bruce, if it was that easy. We'd all be doing it!! give him some credit.

I'd give it to hoy myself. UTD for team an bolt for overseas.

I'm not suggesting the job is easy, far from it. Merely pondering just how much better a driver Hamilton is than say Jenson Button. Obviously the latter has no chance of winning because of his car but if he was in the McClaren where would he finish? Coulthard won races in the McClaren but put him in a poor car and he's nowhere. I don't wish to denigrate the lads performance, he beat drivers in similar cars to himself so good on him for that, but was he the finest sporting performance of the year? Not for me.

i would go for lewis hamilton.

the youngest ever formula one champion. the guy is on a different level, bruce, and to even attempt to bracket jenson button in with him is poor judgement.

chris hoy was amazing in the olympics and i would have no complaint if he won it.

it's just great to have two genuinely amazing sportsmen to choose between.

Don't forget Becky Adlington as well. I don't think we've had a women win gold in the pool since the 1930's so to win two was a heck of an achievement, not to mention breaking the world record as well. Or Wiggins for winning two golds and smashing the world record in the team pursuit. I suspect Ben Ainslee will be overlooked but winning gold in three successive Olympics is a heck of an achievement. Or Vicky Pendleton who would surely have emulated Hoy had the women had the same number of events that the men had.

Spoilt for choice really.
