I actually think Conte staying would’ve been worse as he’d demand a reaction and they have a few big game players who could’ve taken that on

Nah. We have better results when Stellini has taken charge. Conte is a miserable git who picks the same 11 players in the same formation every game irrespective of what players he has available and who we are playing.

He wanted out. Had lots of personal issues recently and his heart wasn't in it.
