McB, you hold my respect in all things G.O.T. , but for fuk's sake , my mate ???
Star Trek ??? Get the fuk !!! For that matter , Star Wars , Get the fuk ???
Ga'barge as the posh folks say .
Kirk gets off with the bird on the other planet , and Spock figures out scheme of evil geeza from other Planet , ( often brother of Kirk's bird . )
SAVE YOUR DOUGH , and seeing as how youve got time on your hands , get some photies of the foxes on Bondii and post 'em on here !!!!!
Nice one .

I reckon you were more greaser than mod mate.
I can see you kicking scooters over down Wigan Pier and using Jackie Wilson vinyl as a deadly weapon. Kirk was a pants mans man, Spock a thinking mans man. Come on Curly, I know you queued up in '79 down the Odeon like the rest of the country and walked out thinking 'That wasnt as good as Moonraker, but damn that Kirks arms are ape man like. No wonder he scores the babes'

Star Trek IS the 60's.

Werent a mod nor a trakkie mate . Saw the Clash at Erics in 78 wearing lois jeans , adidas kick and a mohair ( a non-mod mohair ) . Being honest , Im wearing similar clobber now to that when I was 14 . That prob says more about me than fashion , however .

As for trekkies . Well , upon reflection , I shall refrain from telling you what I really think , as youve all obviously invested some serious years on this , ... well , as I said , ll keep schtum , but , quelle surprise . You get my drift .
P.S. The 60's were my v early years , but if youre talking icons ;
1; Thunderbird 2 .
2; James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 .
3; Sasperilla Lemonade .
Now , THEY were the 60's .

you play poker bill? texas hold 'em no doubt?

Yes. I've got a few different groups I play in.

Did ok last night.

Tied for first (we split the top money) in the first round and was first out in the 2nd round (chasing a flush but had some much to do early this morning that I didn't care if I didn't hit it, which I didn't)

Still walked out ahead.

Im a film buff mate, no trekkie. Name another 60's TV show that so perfectly encapsulated the political and cultural changes that happened during the decade. Name a show that actively employed ethnic actors and confronted the stereotypes and prejudices in society.

I know you dont like it, but you have to admit, that Uhura was one sexy woman.

Mate , Uhura was a minx . Granted . Moreover , I get the ethnic reference . However ,Uhura aside , any other black actor in the show , lasted 1 episode , and may as well have had a target painted on his chest , cause you just KNEW he was going down , before 6.45 . Or whatever time it was . So , it was no racial shangri-la .

Just not my deal , I suppose .
As for the wider cultural stuff , I've never really thought about it , but to me it was shaky sets , snide monsters , and I can't have Kirk . Never could .

I believe that ths is the last tme I shall ever spend 5 minutes discussing Star Trek .
Later McB .

Come on LCAB you know you wanna discuss the inner workings of the enterprise, the symbolic meanings behind the Klingon war insignias, and the brand of condom used by Kirky.

PM me buddy.

does that mean the whole star trek history has changed?

Watched it last night, some half decent pirate copy. Wasnt as good as that time they rescued the whale.

It aint bad, im not a trekkie at all, I enjoyed the old films and series for what they where, but they took themselves far too serious. This 1 seemed more polished and fun, but I did kept expecting Sylar to cut Kirks head off with his finger.

Overall a decent very watchable film.

Got to say, I really enjoyed this movie.

Ill do review tomorrow but i gotta say.....

.....spoiler............

that the bit where he aces the test was absolutely ******* brilliantly done. I was pissing myself as he's munching on that apple and everyone's freaking out. SCENE OF THE YEAR.

went to see this on sunday with wifey & the boys (who aren't really au fait with all things star trek, they're more star wars) & we all really enjoyed the film. i felt it was quite respectful of the original series & better than the films with the original cast. the way the story-line works they're now free to pursue any path without having to concern themselves over details of the original series or films, quite neat. my lads now want to see some of the original series - i'm not sure whether they'll be impressed or disappointed!
