You've not seen my Ma.

First off. What? Are you saying he's bad or he's good?

People not liking Star Trek have lost part of their brains somewhere between deciding to buy a ticket and buying a ticket. It's actors are brilliantly cast, the script is true to any Star Trek fare, the effects are top rate, the whole thing is just perfectly executed and it doesn't ask you to conjure up anything deeper intellectually, which you obviously Rocket Scientists may have trouble with.

Having a laugh if you reckon Into Darkness was perfectly executed.

The casting was a little hit and miss for me, props for getting Peter Weller back on the screen though, Chris Pine I find a bit unbearable, when Shatner can play a role with more humility you are in trouble, Cumberland is a decent actor, does the neurotic role well, but is overrated in the grand scheme of things, the second star trek film is entertaining in it's own way, but it's all a bit of a trick, it moves so fast it doesn't give you a chance to think about how daft most of it is, which is okay as it's still an entertaining explosion fest, but a step down from the first one for me. It certainly is true to star trek as they basically stole the wrath of khan and put new wheels on it, I expected a little more effort.

How so? Was every bit as good as the first and loads better than the originals.

Pine's playing Shatner, and not an easy character to emulate without going over the top. I think he's marvelous in his restraint. The doc is superb, Scotty, Checkov, Sulu and Uhura are all reinvented for the now. I think lumping STID with Mad Max Fury Road as a carbon copy of an original is off the mark. Sure, they played out the Kirk dying scene in reverse but Cumberbatch's Khan is a different animal to Ricardo's Khan, but it's a completely different story played in a completely different setting. The opening reveal of the Enterprise underwater, exposing virgin cultures, a beautiful piano exposition played out over a futuristic London with the lonely fathers heartbreaking deal. Cut to Kirk being relieved, Fleet being setup and Kirk triumphantly reinstated and once again set up, it's exactly what it says it's going to do on the tin.

I look forward to the third one it's been a great series.

I wouldn't dare lump it in with Mad Max, as I adored Mad Max, I found into darkness okay, but a little hollow, yeah some of the visuals are great, but that's pretty much the least I expect, I'd much rather they had made a more adventurous attempt to do their own thing instead of re-hashing Khan, which I thought was the point of the first movie as it allowed the original characters to move in a very different direction to the old version, felt a bit lazy to me, a bit too much crowd pleasing and money spinning

Why is that possibly a bad thing?!
