It's lazy, lazy writing, there's nothing worse or more obvious than a writer playing to the crowd, if your a hollywood investor that's fine, I'm not a hollywood investor. For the same reason I find one directions music inane, if your simon cowell, great

You're so 'cool' mate.

I wouldn't dare lump it in with Mad Max, as I adored Mad Max, I found into darkness okay, but a little hollow, yeah some of the visuals are great, but that's pretty much the least I expect, I'd much rather they had made a more adventurous attempt to do their own thing instead of re-hashing Khan, which I thought was the point of the first movie as it allowed the original characters to move in a very different direction to the old version, felt a bit lazy to me, a bit too much crowd pleasing and money spinning

Fair point that. I guess it's a fine line to bring back familiarity opposed to doing something completely different. You'd never appease the fans either way most of the time I'd suspect.

You know, there's EU threads, Corbyn threads, even footy threads, but no, tonight we kick off in a Star Wars thread. We're all massive nerds.
I can barely keep my head above water in this thread, let alone the serious stuff, most of the time I just re-write what @magicjuan says in a more poorly written manner and hope for the best
