Star Wars - Episode VII

Wasn't the entire premise of Star Wars built on Luke Skywalker's total rejection of the dark side? Would be a weak plot twist to suddenly have him convert, after all the hard work to get Vader to turn to the light side.

in a simple way yes it would be. the original films is really the journey of anakin from young boy to his death, and the journey it takes whilst the galaxy changes around him. So Luke was a good character in that sense because he didnt follow his dads footsteps as it were so the ending of jedi was significant in that way.

It might not be true about luke, i mean there is nothing confirmed and it is all theories until the film comes out. It would explain his absense from the trailer but then (despite not being a trek fan) i loved the cameo from spock in it, so that is probably the better option

You realise @Elong has already come up with all this in this thread yeah mate? And Luke is in both trailers.

Regarding Luke, the story I've been hearing (for a looong time) is that he's simply not in this film very much - as in there's a shot of him during a flashback sequence (rumoured to be the scene where he touches R2 with the robot hand) and he really only truly appears toward the very end. Supposedly the search for Luke is a major plotline throughout the film, because nobody's seen him in years. Re-introduced essentially at the very end of this one, with a much larger role in episode 8.

Like others have said though, all of this stuff is really just speculation until we see the film.
