Not too sure if to take my son to this when it comes out. One side is he likes star wars (mainly because of lego star wars), the other is he won't know who anyone is. Had to try and explain an indiana jones easter egg because he didn't know who han solo was lol
You've got a month, show him the originals first?

This is what I'm doing with mine. We watched Ep1 the other week and then got my old figures out to see who we had seen. Not many from Ep1 cos my figures are from the original trilogy from when I was a kid, but he's getting in to it, and I've booked the tickets for December.

He loves Lego Star Wars as well, we watched the new one yesterday. To be fair I like those Lego Star Wars ones, although he's going to be gutted when Check 14 isn't in any of the proper Star Wars films.

He wouldn't sit and watch them sadly. If they were in the cinema then sure he would to pick out all the characters he knows, but in the house he is far too restless to take a film in. He is even like that with the avengers films, has all the toys, but gets too distracted at home.

He does have a genuine interest in it, got him a brilliant toy the other week. Anakin skywalker with lightsabre that talks and makes sounds, stick helmet and chest piece on and he turns into darth vader. Oh and he has picked those lightsabre builders for christmas (45 quid?!) as well as my mum buying him a star wars coat and bag for school.

How old is he? My lad will be 6 in Feb, he wants that for Christmas as well. £45 is the cheapest I've seen it for. He always sits still to watch a film in fairness but for Star Wars we've made a special thing of it and have popcorn and sweets like at the cinema. It's the same logic I use to get the kids to sit still at the match. Might be worth a try.

I might do that with him then. We have two kids so its hard to make time like that with him but i'll certainly try and make time.

He is 6 as well mate, to be honest we were in toys r us at the weekend and i didn't really price it up, just bought it because he asked for it (presents aren't from us hence him being there lol). but crazy prices like, we might even buy him the other half of it!

Yeah we've got 3, his 4 year old Sister watched it with us but she wasn't in to it the same, although she did still watch it (helped by the sweets). In fairness the story to Phantom Menace isn't ideal for younger kids, with all the political stuff.

We watched it at my Mum's as her tv is bigger and it meant my wife was at home with the baby so no interruptions. I know what you mean it's difficult to find time to sit down like that cos all your time is just taken with normal family stuff. And for 6 films at 2 hours a time as well. If he's in to though and does it, it's a great way to spend time with your Son and something you can always speak of when you're watching future ones.

Other half of it? Do you have to get 2 parts? FFS! It's number one on his list now and has replaced the 2 wheeled scooter that the Mrs has already bought for him!

I must admit the rare occasions in the past where the other half stays in her mums we can sit down with full attention. don't think that will happen again though as i cant take him to school anymore before work. But yeah, the main issue is having 4 people together rather than splitting us up, can suggest to do it but stay with dad or go to nan and grandads for the day isnt really a choice in our house lol

Yeah they have a sith version and a jedi version it seems. We got the jedi one but to make the most of it we might have to buy the other half, will look into it. You get a blue light sabre and 2 green light daggers (they are called that!) and then a couple of holders to put them in to put them into different shapes. Tell you what whoever thought the toy up is a genius! already got the money from me haha
