Last 3 games have been turd but the ones before that were decent enough. I think we will do alright this season but we have the potential the way we are playing to not pick up a point until Watford in mid December now.

I weep for his eternal soul already De Snijderman
your sweet words remind me of a time on here where the sniderman went international. webbing havoc on punks in many tongues. it was not i. it was you. it was everyone. it was my proudest moment if you allow me to share with you orly.

It is an honour and a privilege to be receiving from you El Snido Loco.

You'll be here the day neg returns properly.

the day we both yearn for will come orly. and we will dine and savor every moment as the corpse of punk litters for the floor for us to tread on like fine Persian rug.

I can't help thinking that you're taking the exact same stance you did with Martinez. You seem to continually say 'nothing to worry about, why are you all moaning?' rather than accepting that there are some valid criticisms which need to be addressed.

You still talk about the Martinez reign as if everything was fine until January and then suddenly all went wrong, when the reality is not a lot changed and you were just really, really, quite bafflingly late getting onto the direction we were going in. Thing is, your willingness to cling onto that completely undermines your argument about the current situation. If things with Martinez were fine until January, how on earth can Koeman be 'starting from ground zero' with fitness? Surely you're not saying that fitness deteriorated so much in 4 months that it can't be rectified in another 4 months? To be honest, I reckon I could probably start from my current state of being an out of shape bloke in my 30s who likes a drink and still be fit enough (although sadly not good enough) to last 90 minutes in a professional game if I trained every day for 4 months.

You can't keep saying everything would be OK if we just stopped missing chances. It happens, it's part of the game. Other than Norwich I don't think we've even had a load of chances in the games we haven't won. In contrast, Palace had a goal debatably ruled out, Stoke hit the bar, as did Bournemouth and Spurs. Defoe missed an absolute sitter at 0-0 in Sunderland. If they'd all gone in then this could look like a terrible start, so it's probably best just to concentrate on what has actually happened rather than deciding on our own alternative reality. This was also something you did a lot about Martinez.

This hasn't been a bad start to the season by a long shot, but it's hardly been impressive either. We started off not playing great but getting results, but now we're not playing well and not getting results. It's disappointing. I think I've seen enough to suggest that we're going the right way, but I would say Walsh is going to have to earn his salary in January if we're going to do any better than 8th.
I can't really disagree with any of that. I think we can finish 7th but I can just as easily see us finishing 10th. Not good enough considering the hype at the start of the summer.

I've admitted quite a bit that I was wrong on RM - it was my opinion up until March time that he genuinely could turn it around. In hindsight, yeh, it was wrong - never did I say that everything was rosy up until January though.

Yes but equally so just like we missed chances, we've got our slice of luck (again, after every game I've said this). The last few games we have been poor, but at this stage (7 games into the season, best start in 38 years, and we're 5th) it's a definite improvement on what went before.

There's a big window coming up but right now what can we do about it? F all!

As I've said loads of times it's up to the players we have to step up now.

But, I don't buy into the negative crap and it is simply moaning for moaning's sake.

I can't think of one other fanbase that is as schizophrenic as Everton's, it is ridiculous. And this be all and end all mentality.

I've seen posts along the lines of 'fail to win this game and it's Europe out of the window' - SIX GAMES INTO THE SEASON FGS!

Now, there's seemingly this idea that Koeman is anti football, which likewise is utter tosh. Just look at how his S'ton team played...

I don't have an issue with people being concerned when there's something wrong at all. While I'm in no way saying everything is rosy - it isn't - there's not really any major issues either?

New manager has come in, and re-shaped the defence which got slammed so much (rightly so) last year. We still have some issues and Koeman has certainly made some mistakes, but just like missing chances or other teams not getting lucky, it happens.

You can only beat what gets put in front of you and in the most we've done that. We stagnated a bit in the last few weeks yet we're 5th, and above two teams who are supposedly going to be in a title hunt this year.

While I'm not saying we'll actually be going for the title, by the same logic that most fans are applying to us, that means Utd and Chelsea's hopes of a top 4 finish are over?

It's just boring. Whether it's Zat slamming Koeman for not playing the U21s, or Dave pedalling whatever agenda he has (wind up or not), or ToffeeTim crying about the window...

Everybody is entitled to their opinion and that's fine. It's a forum and that's what it's for - and I've had some very decent debates with all of those posters who I think by and large are sound. But I just don't understand the need to be so downcast when so far, from a footballing, on-field perspective, it's been very reasonable.

Hopefully we get a response when we play City next up.

But here is the biggest mistake Marty, surely?

It's fan hype, it's fan hysteria. The club never said anything - it was all media rumours or rumours on here (and I'm sure @The Esk would be the first to back it up).

Our manager has said the aim is top six (or Europe) - that's where we want to be this season.

That's based on the squad he has at his disposal and more than likely the players he has looked to or will look to bring into the club.

It's not based on 'hype'.

Is that even true anymore?

I mean with regards our best start, I know it was an impressive start before Bournemouth and Palace, but are you sure its still "as good?".

Im not being negative, im just asking.
