I don't think that is true.
His title is director of football, not director of transfers.
Transfers form part of his remit, but his job description is much wider.

How well he is doing that job is another question.

he just given a Turkish striker, who is behind gomis in the leagues stats a 4.5 year deal worth £125k a week.

now if this player is a bust, we have him on our books for 4.5 years on this almighty wage.

I would say he is a gamble.

so a 2 year deal on £100k a week would of been more than enough. if he doesn't like that then we move on.

it seems like football suicide handing out these huge contracts to in-known entities

Do you remember the pic of him in Italy. He looked like such a gimp compared to the others. At least he could have bought a good suit when negotiating deals worth tens of millions.

Incredible really .... we sold our best striker without a replacement and have now done it again
