Oh ffs he's been reading GOT as well. Not this nonsense again.

Um. From that I guess he means that by and large Rom's strokes weren't the decisive goal in the majority of victories (I.e. 1-0 only goalscorer)? Also, that when he was the sole goalscorer / decisive goalscorer in a win draw the loss of points would not have effected final league position?

Well, Rom's strikes are detailed here: https://www.transfermarkt.com/romelu-lukaku/leistungsdaten/spieler/96341/plus/0?saison=2016

All fine and good, the bald facts and stats are there. However, this omits the nature of how games ebb and flow. We may well have been winning already in some games but were we under the cosh? Did an extra goal kill off an opponent? How did his presence influence the game? Ifs buts and maybes of course. But ok, that's football?

It's a absurd thing to say. Anyone who's seen any football knows goals to double a lead with 20 minutes left are important.

I think he's read too much of the bs on the Lukaku thread in here

Kenwright on who negotiates transfers.

Now it’s two people. My job was to get them in (players) in the kind of budget we could afford.

There were long sagas over the summer but we brought them in.

Steve did the Turkish deal but in the main it’s the same.

That argument is one of the stupidest pieces of data interpretation I've ever heard.

Pretty worrying come from the bloke at the club whose primary role is analysis large swathes of data.

*Puffs chest out and and knocks back a pint of wine*

"Think you've been playing too much FIFA mate. You watch 'em once or twice in the flesh and see if they've got passion. Then £25m and £125k a week wages later they turn up and you see if they can handle a good straightener in training"

Lukaku kept opposing team players in their own half's and stopped them rampaging forward because he posed such a threat. That won games for us also.

But Walsh's reasoning probably explains why the club failed spectacularly in signing a striker in the summer- they felt they didn't need one.
