The first 2 signed while Walsh was there. The rest after he left. He joined us early July.
I’ve no doubt Walsh would have done his ‘homework’ on the other players and would have scouted them extensively, prior to joining us. As many have alluded to, he struck gold with kante and Mahrez, that there is no doubt, but there are a high percentage of players who haven’t cut it in the premiership, that he has scouted and bought since. I think he is lucky to still be in a job and will be luckier still, to be here come the summer if the reports we are targeting that other DOF are true.

If anyone can tell me exactly what his role is , what power of Veto he has , what actual players he said to sign and what players he said no to , then I’ll give my opinion.
When I say tell me I mean an informed person who can back their statements up.
When someone can do that grand
I’ll admit our transfer buisness has been scattergun and crazy
However if anybody for one second thinks that Walsh didn’t realise we needed a LB and a striker and possibly a left sided CB in the summer than they are kopite levels of delusional.
Why we didn’t get them is another question
Hopefully a new DOF and a new manager will sort this mess out

Fair point.... I was simply answering the question whether he was there when all of them were signed.

Trust me i cannot stand him myself. Think he is massively overrated.

SAF signed some duds too
Djemba Djemba
That clown of an Italian keeper
The bald French CB
Plus a few others
Veron was a top class player, a clown at United and a top class player again when he left

wonder how much it will have cost the club all in all when said and done.

the fact we might double up on 5m sandro might well save it from being completely disaterous.
A lot would be my guess. Did you see the tweet about Leicester's 2016 transfers? Lightning apparently does strike twice!

Of course mate Ferguson signed some absolute rubbish, sometimes for big money. However I don’t think you can compare the judgement of Ferguson (arguably the greatest manager of modern day football) to that of Walsh.
It is all about ensuring your have more successes than failures in the signing of players, which ultimately decides how successful you are as a manager. Ferguson excelled in this regard, even though I couldn’t stand the man, his record is all there to see.

What is your point? That none of us know what Steve Walsh actually does? If that's it, I doubt too many would disagree. What is clear is that our squad building since his arrival has been a disaster and, given his past roles being almost exclusively in scouting, I have to believe that is part of his role. He has failed. Surely we can agree on that at least?

Is the fact nobody can really explain where his responsibility begins and ends not only a justification for him, but also the most damning criticism of him after 18 months and 4 transfer windows mate?

While there are mitigating factors, I'm not sure he is assertive or strong enough to fill the role we want, or he really sees himself in the role of a DOF, but more a head scout who's close to a manager.

I think the club needs a DOF. The fact nobody can really explain what his role consists of is the biggest criticism you can give him really.

He was chief scout, regardless of when they put pen to paper he was then one who would have been watching them.

But did he sign them?

I don’t think we can know that for certain, Chris?

I am inclined to give him the benefit.

Otherwise we will have the bugger in the dock over Cock Robin

Maybe he scouted the players , recommended them and Koeman said no
Who knows

I wonder what fully paid holidays Steve fancies this summer under the guise of scouting players? The fraud will probably pass off a three week bender in Thailand as a work trip.
