To me the majority are squad players if you really want to get to the top level

Quality is another question entirely! But players can go from looking really good to looking really poor very quickly depending on the team they are in.

Imprinting an identity on the club and getting rid of the players that don't fit that identity is the main thing Moshiri, Walsh or whoever else is involved should be planning right now.

Hope he's relieved of his duties in the summer.

If Moshiri insists on sticking with the DoF model then he really needs to bring in a proper one. Brands is the minimum we should be going for.

Spot on, Walsh simply isnt a DOF. This has been a very expensive mistake by Moshiri.

The change (along with the managers) needs to be made well before the summer.... We need to start work on rebuilding this team as soon as possible.... Identify the players we want, and get them done early in the window... remember its a world cup summer so less time to sort these deals, and player transfer fees can get ridiculous if the player plays well at the World Cup

Coaching and having a system amd idemtity of play can make a big difference to players.

He's not when you think we have been linked with someone like Brands, you can't even compare the two. Brands is one of the top DOF's in european football.

Was Brands ever seriously linked to us or was it jjst paper talk?

If Joyce/Hunter/Mcnulty had mentioned it I would be more optimistic.

It was mentioned a few weeks back, then mentioned again the other day on something. I think also because he apparently has good links with South America and obviously with Fonseca, he has a team full of talented Brazilians at the moment. Id like to think there is something in it as i don't really want Walsh being responsible for anymore of the clubs transfers.

I don't buy into that tbh. The rs have bought from Southampton and nabbed themselves the likes of VVD, Mane, Lallana and they would walk into our side. It is possible to buy qualities players from lower teams, it just seems we've bougt the majority of crap ones unfortunately

Indeed, mac.

I am just thinking of a team United could turn out on any given Saturday.

It might contain Jones from Bolton (or was it Blackburn}.....Smalling from Fulham.....Young from Watford.... Valencia from Wigan.

Felani and Lukaku from....er.....

I'd love Fellaini back K ( well maybe a couple of years ago ). Bit of snide, got stuck in, wouldn't go missing, big threat and could play.

Wouldn't say no to Rom considering we still haven't replaced him

Moshiri may make changes at Everton

Paul Joyce, Northern Football Correspondent
February 28 2018, 12:01am, The Times

Farhad Moshiri, Everton’s main shareholder, is facing important decisions over the future of the manager Sam Allardyce and the club’s director of football Steve Walsh.

The second anniversary of Moshiri buying a 49.9 per cent stake in the club was marked yesterday with uncertainty around what his plans are. Everton have spent £270 million since his arrival but their hopes of infiltrating the Premier League’s top six this season have been brutally exposed.

Allardyce replaced Ronald Koeman after David Unsworth’s interim spell in charge, but his appointment has left supporters disillusioned and Moshiri is considering another change.

He had been willing to pay Watford up to £15 million in compensation for Marco Silva before turning to Allardyce and the Portuguese manager is now out of work having been sacked by the Vicarage Road club, who claim his focus was deflected by Everton’s interest. Silva remains an option but Moshiri will consider alternative candidates when weighing up his decision.

Everton gave Allardyce an 18-month deal when asking him to stave off the threat of relegation, but that sort of crisis management is at odds with the need for a clear vision.

Walsh is under pressure for the failed impact of numerous signings. Marcel Brands, PSV Eindhoven’s sporting director, is under consideration to replace him.
