I’m led to believe he’s gets bonus’s based on all the players that he has been involved in us signing this season. Which is the majority.

Bonus’s would include appearances from each of these players, goals, assists, clean sheets etc. This is over the length of the players contract. So Iv heard anyway.

It will add up to a fair bit.

No wonder he doesn't do any scouting and is at every Everton match. He must have a calculator totting up his wages.

For someone whose, it appears, job it is to help the club with either scouting or acquiring talent he SUUUURE spends a lot of time at our own matches. I guess its the whole "I mean, who KNEW of Theo Walcott before I found him!" theory.

Not trying to defend Steve Walsh but his role is director of football and not chief scout.
I don't think it is his job to unearth players, that is the role of the scouts. The job Steve Walsh has to do is decide with the manager which of the players that are identified should be signed but more importantly he has an overview of the entire playing structure at Everton FC so that any change of manager should be seamless as well as having a clearly defined playing structure going forward as well as having a path laid out for young players coming through from the academy.

Unfortunately he seems to equally bad doing the job he is supposed to be doing as the one he is getting blamed for which only forms a small part of his remit.

The business models used should of been spurs and Liverpool's.

1)buy young
2) keep them for a few seasons
3)sell when the price is high
4) repeat step one.

Obviously there will be some bad buys as with all clubs. But this method ensures that the net transfer spend should be kept at a reasonable rate, while having the ability of competing for the top 4.
The only thing you need is to bring in some half decent scouts and set them up the right way.

That's just the thing tho, we don't REALLY know what he does. The only thing we know about Steve Walsh with any certainty is that his time at Everton can be called nothing less than an unmitigated disaster.

If the rumours are true about him getting massive bonus' if his signings make 20 appearances you really have to ask 'why?' Is it not his job to get the right players in to the club? He's a bigger failure than people who play FM.
