I think Steve Walsh should be replaced as well but not because some journalist thinks we might take Phil Jones out of Utd.

I would however like to hear exactly how much input he had into our signings since he first came.

He can tell us after he's got his fat pay off

I don't think we should even have a director of football if I'm honest

I don't see the point. A manager should be capable of doing that stuff

One less pay cheque to write every week

In reality mate, it depends on who the manager is you are gonna be going for...

Some of them wouldn't go near a job with a DoF in place
Some wouldn't go near one without one in place

and the second list I'd say is much larger and growing yearly

Very few managers coach, scout and recruit players.

Most of the highly rated managers in Europe are coaches.

People like Alex Ferguson were managers who appointed coaches. They didn't need directors of football because that was effectively what their job was.

We've gone for some weird model whereby our director of football is subservient to the coach. Whole point of the model is it means you have someone acting in the long term interest of the club rather than the immediate results.

its not like sam allardyce will be taking any notice of how steve walsh wants us playing is it??!!

and that's the whole point isn't it.

walsh decides our style of play and gets the players in best suited for that style.

in reality Sam Allardyce just keeps telling all the defenders to get the ball and HHHOOOOOOFF it as far as possible, in or out of touch, doesn't matter

That just shows a DoF has been badly implemented, not that it doesn't work. No business in the world would put the majority of their operations into the hands of one person. A football club should be able to carry on without missing a beat when a manager leaves

The fact walsh is still picking up his pay every fortnight tells you everything you need to know about ‘nothing will ever be the same’ garbage.

great knowing the future of Everton is in such brilliant hands..

Walsh in charge of players

Allardyce managing

and toning down our 'iconic' stadium so that we have the same capacity as goodison with a few VIP seats thrown in.

You don't need loads of empty seats to be iconic.
