Steven Naismith though.

He's more than good enough to be back up for Barkley in the no10 role. Has a great knack of being in the right place at the right time and he grabs goals

"More than good enough". At the moment ,as an attacking threat, he's better than Barkley. I would love to see Barkley in those 1-on-1 situations that Naismith is usually so reliable in. There's no doubt that if Barkley continues to work hard he'll have that AMF role nailed down, but at the moment if you want goals you'll need to play Naismith.

Brotherhood of Albino Terrier is rising. Theres currently 1 member innit but thats about to change. Applications and donations through pm.
Ugh!

As long as he's got pace around him and he's played in his correct position then he's good. As a wide player he doesn't offer much

As a striker he's not good enough, but as a second striker or AM he has a role in our squad. He also played striker when Lukaku played RW and did good in that game. I Think RM is better to untap his potential than Moyes were.

Sitting with @Allezfan at the match yesterday

He said "Glad to see him do well, but he's not a footballer"

To which I replied "Really? Well he's getting paid well for being a chartered accountant!"

AF of course then went on to clarify by saying he's a good finisher but his overall footballing ability isn't that great, which I feel is fair. He has clear limitations but he also has an eye for goal and works hard for the team

If Naismith is seen as a key member of this team then we aren't progressing much.

I find it disturbing Martinez is talking about a striker on loan...maybe.

Kone is not a banker to contribute, Lukaku cant carry the attack for probably 50+ games. We need to be looking at Naismith as what he is: an emergency last throw of the dice. Two more forwards in as a necessity imo.

Martinez has already said all he wants now is a winger - maybe we wont even get another forward. Personally I agree, I don't rate McGeady, and Pienaar is getting on a bit now. If we can get a quality winger and maybe another striker as loans then we will have a strong team. Let's not forget the Goals Naismith scored last year - on more than one occasion he won us the Game.

Dont rule out players going is the first thing I'd say.

Even without sales, though, I dont think it looks good we're so short handed going into 4 competitions. Martinez was talking up the younger players and maybe promoting a few in order to expand the first team pool of players. Is that really possible from what's been seen so far? I think that looks pie in the sky.

Naismith is ill disciplined, cant keep shape in a team and is a last 15 minutes player who can come on when we've thrown caution to the wind. He's never a starter for us. If he's a starter or considered one then we're regressing in that forward department.

I genuinely don't see that. I think he plays whatever role is asked of him in a very disciplined manner. Makes intelligent runs, works hard for the team. Similar to Osman really - does whatever job is asked of him to the best of his ability but if he has to play out of position he suffers.

Opinions and all that...

Just got back from my lunchbreak here in an area just outside of Barcelona. Was in the local shopping mall and there was a youngish dude in the new home jersey with Naismith on the back!

Had a brief chat with him and he said he picked Everton because he hated the fans of the other lot when they came here for champs league games! Said he picked Naismith because he works like a mofo like Puyol. Delighted we have a Catalan manager.

Not the only random local Everton fan I´ve met here, but just thought it was great he picked Naisy!
