No, last season we reached our peak with regards the edge of prize money, if we finished 4th it would have meant untold riches, providing we made it past the CL qualifiers, but good old Bobby loaned an injured striker and we finished 5th. If we finish 5th again this season and get out the group stage of the Europa we are looking at a surplus of around 35m+, but if we finish 16th and fail to get out the group stage its a surplus of around 15m.

Its not as you suggest a few million here and there.

We are extremely unlikely to finish anything lower than 8th and we are talking about 3m difference a place there or there abouts aren't we? So yeah bit of a ballache giving up 12m but we'd still have a fair bit floating about.
Wage increases are what could erode the surplus a little next year and depending on what you believe on the structure of the Lukaku deal, that could also account for a little more. But basically we are sound. Completely sound.

Its 1m a place and its very foolish to assume we wont finish lower than 8th. Lukaku has been "paid for", dont be a weapon that claims we only paid 9m for him, PLEASE.

How can it be 1m a place if there is a 20m difference between 5th and 16th? I wasn't being a weapon, I was merely outlining it as a possibility because I don't pretend to know how that works. SO LEAVE IT YEAH?

I believe Spurs are similarly better off as well. Spurs. FML.
Sunday games could help in that regard though as someone mentioned before. Maybe a little more moolah.
