Steven Naismith

He is very similar to Tim Cahill. They had remarkably similar attributed (though Cahill was probably better in the air, Naismith is probably a bit more creative).

I know everyone rightly views Cahill now as a legend. However especially towards the end of his career he received quite a bit of criticism. The moral of the story was that he didn't need to start every game, but in particular games he would be very useful.

I think it's the same for Naismith. Against any of the top 5 or 6 sides where creativity required is not at a premium he is a fantastic asset. He also has the potential to be a bit of a Solskiaar for us coming off the bench in other games.

I think Roberto understands that, and his value as a squad asset. Kendall's column was spot on earlier in the week as well. He is a vital asset, and even if we'd have got 8 million for him, who could we have got who would be happy to be as an effective a squad man as Naismith?

File under 'every dog has it's day'.

Sensational hattrick, but we cant afford to end up like last season with people unable to play the system and keep the ball. These games when the opposition comes at us are few and far between.
He frustrates me sometimes . but today he misplaced passes , but if he harasses players , and grabs goals what more do you want?

He's like Park Ji-Sung was for United a while back. Not someone you want playing against weaker sides where his lack of technique just makes him look poor, but his workrate, poaching, and all-around irritating play are great against bigger clubs.

That's a good comparison, Park was always Fergie's go to player in the big games, better coming off the bench against weaker teams!

I understand trhat we look better when teams come at us apart from man city that is!

His first a classic give and go ,his second a clever perfectly placed bit shot, his third nothing else on so have a pop.
Take a bow Steven Naismith,a very intelligent example of how it should be done.

John's best mate gives the perfect response to Chelsea, well in Naisy.

Scored four years in a row against them, it is so odd how some players just suit playing against certain teams!
This makes it perfect for me. He's the first Everton player to say Stones should stay put, he shepherd's him away from the Barnsley away fans and tells them not to put too much pressure on them, then he showed them who's a "small club" today.

edit: I meant our fans after the Barnsley away game

He truly is an enigma is the Nais. At times he looks like he can't even play football and has a pass completion comparable to that of Steven Hawking. But he has games like today were his movement is intelligent and links up well with others on top of his unquestionable work rate.

I really wasn't surprised we kept him, on top of his clear value to the dressing room he does offer us something.

His is that type of player, frustrates you, then plays like a top world striker today!
