Steven Naismith

I like Steven Naismith a lot - he may not have the silky skills of a Mirallas but his attitude is top notch and I was delighted with and for him yesterday. I was relieved we didn't sell him to Norwich, and he rewarded us with that performance.

All that being said, I prefer him as an impact sub. If he isn't in the starting line-up next week he hasn't exactly been dropped, has he? Hes an invaluable squad member and will continue to be so. (unless Mourinho or Van Gaal want to offer £15m+ for him in January).

That's being a bit pedantic, mate. You know what I mean, not many managers would not start a player who scored a hat-trick in the previous match.

Like I said, I don't think he should start against Swansea given the nature of the opposition.

I'm pretty sure he will though, I'd wager the team that started against Chelsea, with Naismith in for Besic, will be the team that starts against Swansea.

Tell us all again how you rate McGeady. Creases me that one.
It's a matter of giving a player a chance. I make no apologies for doing so.

I always maintained that McGeady was a confidence player who either would click here or not. I'm sure he'll go somewhere else to a lesser team/league and have a decent final few years of his career.

lol...usually you and I are on the same page re Naismith but today I think you are unusually curmudgeonly : today, his slotting was top notch, as was his ball control, reading of the movement/pace of the game, and general footballing wherewithal (which equates to appreciation of space...for oneself and /or teammates).
Humble pie today mate...for me ... and you

Fair dos sir, being as you are not his number one fan as you've let us know on more than 1 occasion.

He's got to start the next game. You can't drop a player after a performance like that.

The team that is best suited to win should always be picked, yesterday Naismith earned the right to be first name on the team sheet against the RS where he will be incredibly useful.... Having a good game against Chelsea doesn't make him more suited to playing against a packed defence like we will be for the next few games...

Seem everyone's very eager to emphasise just how s**t they still think Naismith is instead of celebrating one of our lesser players scoring a bloody perfect hattrick against the reigning champs
He was literally the worst player I'd ever seen in an Everton kit 3 years ago
Absolutely couldn't wait to see the back of him
And yesterday he came on as a sub and scored a hat trick and became our premier league top scorer against Chelsea
Bloody brilliant
He's an excellent asset to have in our squad - he's developed hugely in the last 2 years

No chance Swansea won't come out and attack us.

He'd be a huge letdown in this league. He wants way too much time on the ball to deliver and he has a serious lack of real pace. It would be a car crash of a signing.

You naughty boy David

Just watching the match again for the 84th time with a few cold ones and that little dummy he done on Mikel for the first gets better and better each time! :D
