Well hang on, are you saying that IF we won more games in the 1st half of the season then we would be in Europe?

weird.

Not weird at all.

The difference is im talking about what ACTUALLY happened, while your coming up with some walter mitty story that only happened in your head.

While im as dissapointed as you are, im giving up on you now as you just dont get it.

There was a poll done on here around the turn of the year about where we would finish and the majority went for between 8th-10th, so the majority who voted also felt that european qualification was gone by then. In general the players have been brilliant since then.

Don't talk utter [Poor language removed].

Please.

What exactly am I not getting it?

Do you think Moyes is looking at the 6-1 defeat as the reason we never made Europe, or the failure to beat West Ham and Stoke when the gate was left open for us?

I'm saying that IF we beat West Ham and IF we beat Stoke, and your saying IF we never lost to Arsenal and IF we never had a [Poor language removed] start to the season.

Do you get it? Madness!

How did this thread turn into this?

We were [Poor language removed] today, it happens but Europe didn't end today, we were never going to do it for a couple of weeks now.

It's a season to forget but understandable with how the injuries were, move on.

Apart from that it did end today. Up until today we could have made Europe, the gate was open. Nothing to do with goal difference, or that we needed to win 18-0 to qualify, we had a chance to put some real pressure on Liverpool, and we have missed the chance. Thankfully Webb has done Moyes a massive favour.

This one wasn't even worth getting wound up about.

Agreed. It was a nothing game but not quite as nothing as the massive nothing game against Portsmouth next week.

At least we can taunt them about their impending doom though, the bad play-up-for-Sky-camera hanks. Someone crack that topless bell too.

I have already told you what your not getting, WE ****ED UP IN THE 1ST HALF OF THE SEASON, FACT.

We picked up i think it was 20/22 points up to the half way point, by losing away to burnley, bolton, hull, drawing at home to wolves and stoke.

We have almost doubled our points tally since, and your trying to tell me we have only missed out now. Would you have been content to draw at home to utd, chelsea, city and beat west ham, stoke and villa and get the same points.

You just expect to turn up at stoke and roll them over, how many teams have done that this season. I,ll say it again, thats FOOTBALL.

The facts prove where we lost out, but you keep coming up your makey up scenarios to prove your point, now thats MADNESS!
Good luck.

I agree that we ****ed up at the start of the season, well we were unfortunate with injuries. But my point is that up until today the gate was still open, there was an opportunity, otherwise what was the point in making any effort at all in the 2nd half of the season? To stave off relegation?

How am I making up any scenario? Jesus H. It did happen you know, we were still able to qualify for Europe.

I really can't understand why you think that we lost Europe at the start of the season when up until game 37 we could have qualified. I really don't understand how you think I am making up any scenario.

You said if we had won today and if liverpool lose tomorrow and if liverpool are losing next week and if we get a penalty in the last minute. Ring a bell?

We lost out on europe at the start of the season because we gave ourselfs a mountain to climb, which we nearly managed but it wasnt to be in the end.Even a half decent start would of had us still involved in the race for fourth.

I was illustrating a point, that scenario could have happened and if it did happen and we lost out, would you still have felt it was because of what happened 6 months back.

I was making the point that up until the draw today we still could have made Europe, we couldn't change the games from months back, but we had control over the game coming up.

Fact is mate we win today we are still in the running for Europe. That is something that can't be disputed. Now I agree that the start of the season didn't help, but we still had the chance, and we've not taken the opportunity. It's what it's all about - taking your chances, and not making up excuses for your failures.

The silver lining to all this is if we keep the current squad...

we will have nothing in our way to stop us going to the jugular next season. no thursdays in eastern europe before a weekend match at st. james park.

next season is not a 100% fruit drink, but a mere cordial, however it could be really special.

enjoy the world cup and bring on the new fixture list.

If we could see out games properly (Villa, West ham) and approached other games with the right mentality (today) we'd be 4th easily. Regardless of our poor start.

We're just not good enough really. Which is infuriating, because we have the potential and the players to be very, very good. But somethings holding us back.

Thank you. Someone who is on my wavelength. Start questioning my own sanity sometimes.

What's holding us back mate is fear that were not good enough. The players need to roundhouse any little blert who wants to question them. Need someone like Reidy or Psycho Pat to stick the boot and windmill them all out of the way.

If you have no confidence in your potential, then what's the point in having potential.

Very true. But actually instilling that confidence is a different matter.

Even when we get a good run of results, we dont get that invincible feeling. I always feel like it will come undone at any moment.

Which it does, inevitably

Well your right, We beat Chelsea, Lisbon and United in the same week then fall apart against Sporting away.
