I'm a massive Baines fan but there is no doubt that Oviedo played very well at Carlise and at home to Newcastle and deserves to start today. Same with Lennon vs either of Deulofeu and Mirallas.

Also makes me wonder why we didn't do the deal earlier so the lad had time to prepare his fitness and as such play more games.

Most probably he wasn't our first choice option, however for once I'd like Everton to be slightly more prepared when it comes to transfers.

I think Oviedo deserved to keep his spot. I just don't like your Baines-bashing. Could have said "Oviedo deserved another game", or "Oviedo doesn't deserve to be dropped". But as you've done before, you've bashed someone who's barely played football in a year rather bafflingly, for no good reason.

Have to agree with you here pal. Baines looks a shadow of his former self, whereas Oviedo works hard all over the park and looks the more likely of the two of them to provide an assist at the moment.

Guess it's hard to say. I personally think they lost their sauce ages ago and just throw stuff out there, seeing what sticks.

Hopefully they're right though. Hopefully it's a fitness issue and not another example of administrative incompetence from the club.
