One thing that should be highlighted here.Unfortunately rumours to date indicate that this is more about whether or not we go with a DOF and give them the authority or share out those responsibilities to various members of the coaching team.
In my view, this is a total sham as I have stated before that I do not believe the club has a proper documented and costed strategy/business plan.
Any employee needs to know what they are expected to deliver by the inclusion of performance indicators within the plan. These have got be be more detailed than say an ambition to qualify for europe.
Currently our only strategy appears to be qualify for europe and hope Moshiri will continue to invest. This is not fit for purpose.
The Board are responsible for setting the route forward to develop the business together with identifying how resources will be provided to facilitate this. The CEO should be involved in those discussions.
I have no faith whatsoever that any of this has ever taken place and do not believe our current owner/board will commit the time required to do so. We have an absent owner and a part-time Chairman who must be constantly juggling plates to meet the needs of his other business.
Ou CEO has a background in education which does not provide the necessary experience required to turn around a multi million pound commercial business. Also Moshiri's involvement with Usmanov gives rise to the view that they have been very lucky and not had to grow a business from the ground up.
Against this backdrop, it is no wonder we are struggling. Any strategic review should include the performances of the board and owner. Until that happens, I fear more of the same.
'qualify for Europe' is an OBJECTIVE, not a STRATEGY. There has to be a substance behind it and a plan, like you have mentioned.
