The strategic review should have been basic.
You could have literally got your binoculars out of Goodison and see across Stanley park at how a football club is ran.
Within 6 months of FSG coming in, they’d completed a review, gutted all the personnel they didn’t think were up to scratch and implemented the system they use at Boston Red Sox on Liverpool.
Appointed their main men in all areas, then brought in layers and layers of understudies, so when people depart (which can happen in football), you’ve got your replacement made.
They worked the brand, they saw a market for a US brand, they got commercial amazingly well.
But back to the stuff, they hired experts to bring in the best men, the men who could turn the club round and make them money.
We’ve had 7 years of just scattergunning ideas, and some, some have been a little bit unlucky, but could have been controlled… Walsh was wrong, Moshiri went for Loeman and they all went diving in to build a team with out comms.
But some decisions have been awful and Moshiri needs to stop, reflect on what’s gone wrong and identify the issues.
I’ve no doubt that Kenwright, Sharp, Baxendale, Unsworth etc all love Everton, but they’ve been figureheads in a barren spell.
Moshiri can change, but he needs to realise it.
Today, hopefully made a really good dent in the issues we as supporters feel are occurring, aside from one idiot vandalising the stadium, the message was clear, the behaviour was solid and the press were ready.
It’s not too late, but fix your mess, and quickly.
