It does though, it's not even up for debate. I don't see why people get their knickers in a twist over this, unless it's a need for constant validation

It's nothing to do with being a 'better fan' whatever that means, or questioning someone's support. I'm simply saying that there are certain things which will have more of an impact on some people than others. I would class myself as a fan of Lancashire CCC, I go to the odd game, watch if they're on TV, look out for all their results etc. A couple of years ago (last season possibly?) I was talking to a mate who is a member there and goes to watch them a lot. I mentioned that it had been a decent season, and he was flabbergasted. As someone who'd watched most of their games he thought it had been awful. It doesn't make him a 'better' fan than me, in the same way i'm not a better fan than you, but those who don't miss a minute of any game will pretty obviously have a different perspective to people who just watch highlights and read match reports.

Anyway, to stay on topic, we're nowhere near panic stations yet, but it would be nice to see a couple of new faces soon to show that we're serious about improving on last seasons efforts.

What about people who watch all our games on telly or on streams?

We don’t have to be. It’s just a function of wages/fee. Even Mirallas has value.
Mirallas is an odd example as he's actually a very talented player. He'll undoubtedly be of interest to many clubs, it's just a matter of whether he'll be interested in moving to one of the clubs that would want him.

All clubs have players that they don't really want now, it's just the way things work in modern football. The 'unwanted' list in theory would probably include Martina, Williams, Pennington, Browning, Galloway, Besic, Mirallas, Klaassen, and Sandro off the top of my head. If any of them are now wanted, it's likely that someone else will take their place on the unwanted pile - Bolasie, Connolly, Schneiderlin, Niasse, Holgate etc. Getting rid of another 8-10 players (on top of the 4-5 who've already gone) would be quite remarkable at this point.

Sell a bunch, buy a couple.

but we have already sold a couple including by far and away our biggest earner, as I have already said I agree with what they are trying to do, but hypothetically if we cannot sell the players they want gone, are we going to not sign anyone? it's a valid question and something to worry about as there seems to be no movement thus far in regards to transfers in

the EXACT same thing happened last season when we sold rom, we had NO striker lined up to replace him and people kept saying don't worry it will happen, stop being bedwetters etc etc, we signed no one and our season was a disaster

Re Yarmolenko. IF he was THAT good all the top clubs would be after him. Clearly not all THAT as couldn't cut it at Dortmund and West Ham lead the list of his suitors. Ryan Fredricks is a better signing for them in my opinion. Yarmalenk-NO from me.

Patience.

to be fair, if west ham end the week having signed fredericks wilshere Anderson diop and yarmalenko, that's 5 players who go in and improve them straight away, so whether or not yarmalenko etc can cut it at big clubs they'll still improve west ham

If you care to actually read what we're talking about, you'll see that it's nothing to do with being a 'better blue'. I was asking a genuine question to better understand the effect that regular poor performances would actually have on the individual.

Going to the game actually matters when you're talking about certain things. If somebody says, I don't really care if my local supermarket stocks bread, it's fair to ask whether they actually shop there. Same here, it's perfectly valid to say that those who've spent a fortune on a season ticket may be more bothered about the product on the pitch than those who'll just watch match of the day. I know loads of blues who said Allardyce was doing fine and everybody should get off his back, until they actually sat through 90 minutes of a game and came round to the idea that yes, it was pretty soul destroying for those who had to sit through it every week.

I was reading it. And no it's not about being a better blue.

I don't agree that going to the game doesn't mean you care any more about being entertained than someone who isn't there. Somebody who watches on TV (possibly pays for an entire BT/Sky subscription to do so, btw) wants to be entertained just as much as somebody who has a ST (which I have had in the past and hopefully will be able to have again in 2019).

To be fair, I don't know loads of blues who wouldn't watch all of our games, so maybe you and me differ there. Every blue I know - for our sins - are die hard supporters and watch the entirety of the games whenever possible. I don't think, as a club, we have many 'armchair/motd' fans. I also think that the vast majority on here will be people who watch all of our games.

I'm frustrated by a lack of incoming in the sense that we need 3-4 areas addressing with real quality. But I also appreciate they're trying to iron out the mistakes of last season/before that. And I think we've at least got a manager in place who will try to create an attacking style that can provide the entertainment we crave as well.

And it'll put them head and shoulders above our current gang of useless carts. We best get moving, fast.

I''m pretty sure the same thing was said last season when they signed Arnautovic, Hernandez and Hart and they were still pony.
