Summer 2018 Transfer Window

It's an unpopular view, but I'd happily move Pickford on for 50+ million. His stock is very high after this World Cup and will likely take a dip this season. Thats not to say in the medium term he won't re-capture that but for us at the moment the liquidity he could provide could be more valuable.

I have question marks over him still, though I can't doubt the lads mindset which is top draw (and the best we've had post Cahill). I think this will be a big tick box for top teams, who do look at that.

There has to be an acknowledgement of where we are under Moshiri. I don't think we get much from pretending we can emulate what City/Chelsea did. If we need to sell to raise funds then we need to go down that route. Each summer we may need to move a player or 2 on. Any player we buy, that we can sell for upwards of double what we paid needs to be considered.

There also look a fair few goalkeeping options out, that can be solid for us if he were to go. By all accounts Foster is available for under 10 million. He is a solid goalkeeper. I also don't think Cech would cost a bundle, given his age and the likelihood of Leno being number 1. He seems the sort of steady experienced head we could do with next season to help a young team, and could be a little like how Nigel Martyn was. I'd happily see us trading Pickford, getting Cech in with over 40 million in the bank as pretty solid business to be honest.
Getting rid of one of the most promising goalkeepers in the world to replace him with 35 year old Ben Foster or a 36 year old Petr Cech is one of the maddest shouts I've seen

I don't think either are poor though mate. I think Pickford's value is high currently and the cash we could generate may be helpful. I also don't think Cechj would be so much of a downgrade if we could get him, and us the additional funds sensibly.

I'm happy for Pickford to stay and I think the lad will get better, but I personally wouldn't [Poor language removed] the club for taking the decision to move him on at 50+million.

A few seasons ago maybe but I think Cech’s reflexes have gone now. Pickford will be a good keeper for a decade, Cech might give us one more season before we’d be looking for another keeper.

Selling Pickford to buy Cech, who is completely finished, and can barely move anymore, is one of the worst shouts I've read this summer.

Let's not sell our best players. Let's not throw more money at players about to retire and looking for a final pay day. Let's keep our young and improving goalkeeper.

Also in what way was Pope unlucky not to play at the WC? I think Pickford proved he's at least a level above.

I understand that mate. I remember reading the same re Martyn and I think Cech will do quite well at his next club.

I'm all for keeping our best young players, but I think we also have to acknowledge the need to sell players each summer to help with the rebuild.

Ideally, we sell the deadwood and those who don’t want to be at the club. Say if Lookman wants to leave he will be sold to raise fund.

I personally think Cech is completely finished. I can't fathom why you would want to sell a player and replace them with a far far worse one who is close to retirement. It's madness like this that got Walsh the sack.

My view is that I'm really not that bothered if he stays or goes. Despite his good WC showing I dont rate his all round game. Who knows, he might need a big spotlight on him (like at the WC) to perform better than he does for us.

If it comes to it and we sell him my only concern would be to make the buyer pay through the nose. I wouldn't be fretting about his loss.

Pope from Burnley looks a great prospect and we could take him. He'd be ideal.

Bookmarking this for when we do sell him and you have kittens about it.

Theres no way a betting company will ever have a headline with the actual player they suspect a team wants. They would lose money hand over fist. If its a headline from a betting company, you can be sure they DONT think it will happen.
Betting companies never lose money on bets. If it’d worked like that, it would be a very risky business.

If this is true that Pickford is being sold Everton must be mad to let him go and who would we bring in that is better than Pickford

The front three at times last season was Siggurdson DCL Lennon. We’ve gone from that to Richarlison Tosun and Walcott at a cost of 90 million. Moshiri the austere carpetbagger.
