Tyias Browning is 24 years old, has made 7 appearances for the first team and 26 senior appearances overall.

Brendan Galloway is 22 years old, has made 17 appearances for the first team and 34 senior appearances overall.

They may be training with the U23’s, but they are senior players.

If they’re these ages and still with the U23s, they are senior players for a club not named Everton

If Mina is going to United I suppose Linderlof and Smalling are available, both a bit of an upgrade on the turd we have at CB. I can't believe we are two weeks from the start of the season and haven't bought one defender.

I can see a few panic deals in the last week if Mina knocks us back as looks likely.

theres defo going to be one or two deadline day loans, we aren't going to be splashing major money on panic buys, if the loans turn out crap then we just hand them back instead of being lumbered with them

Reality is we don't actually have much money this summer the goal is to bring the wage bill down, off load dead weight, lower the age of the squad and strengthen in a few key positions. So far we haven't done much of the latter.

"The right deals weren't available. We'll pursue more aggressively in January."

There, I've saved you all a lot of time...bed now.

You may be right of course, but if that was the line trotted out it would make little sense for us.

I do expect Silva to improve the current squad of players that remain, but undeniably we need another two or three minimum to have some chance of seeing an improvement.

If that doesn't happen, we go backwards and make ourselves even less of an attractive prospect to players we apparently struggle to attract anyway.

Brands' key job is to get players in and out. There must be literally hundreds of players brought to his attention in the last few weeks alone. If he didn't have at least two alternatives for every position sought, then he wouldn't be up to much.

We'll see what happens. We should get Digne in early next week so thats another one. After that I think there is every likelihood things will go down to deadline day, and that's pure lottery. As far as the likes of Mina are concerned, all the signs are that the guy has little or no interest in signing and that's fine, his choice. I hope its not a case of putting all our eggs in one basket though. It's the most amateurish thing and only leads either to disappointment or last-minute panic buys.

I said hundreds of pages ago that we'd get Smalling. I think he'd be a shrewd signing. Jones. Lindelof.Rojo too. Ready made back 4 !!

Keane isnt a bad player IMO, hes just utterly shot of confidence and "fight".
He supposedly had a bad gash (yer ma) on the top of his foot last season, which kept opening so didn’t heal properly. Could be why he was such a disappointment. With a fully working foot and Silva’s meticulous training, there’s a slim chance he might be better this year
