Mate some people on here know more about football than Jose Mourinho and Van Gaal so maybe we should believe them when they say ‘he’s rubbish’ with no evidence whatsoever.

People are allowed their opinions but yeh, it'd be good to support them with a bit more reasoning.

He can be reckless, he can be over-zealous and yes, he does make mistakes.

However, he is quick (at least quick enough to play in a high line), decent on the ball and good in the air. He's also strong and physically imposing.

The main issue for me would be price/wages. I wouldn't want to be paying him too close to the 100k p/wk he's (at least) on at United, while I don't think - due to the series of bad injuries he's had as much as anything, and his age - we should be paying over £15m (at least up front anyway).

We've just sold a 27 year old Argentine international defender with premier league experience though.

Yeh, one who has proved in his time at us he isn't good enough.

Rojo may not be the answer (I'm not sure he is), but he is better than Funes Mori. He's quicker, he's stronger, he's better on the ball and he's actually far less reckless.

He isn't. He was United's most consistent defender in 16/17. Had troubles with injuries last season.

Again, I'm not advocating the deal, but he isn't rubbish. If it was £15m and he was one of two new CBs, I'd take it. But if he is the only target and we pay way over the odds, it'll be disappointing.

You mean he was better than Phil Jones and Chris Smalling?? He’ll be massively exposed in a poorer more open team, that’s cold hard facts

We've just sold a 27 year old Argentine international defender with premier league experience though.

One of them was bought by Roberto Martinez and couldn’t get in the team ahead of Williams and Keane. The other has played under Van Gaal and Mourinho ahead of Smalling and Jones at times. This is a tough choice.

Right now, the first question we need to ask about a prospective centre back is "can he run fast?"

Rojo can run fast.

The second question is "is he under 40?"

Rojo is under 40.

At no point should we ask questions about footballing ability, price or temperament.

So in conclusion, Rojo is a perfect fit.
