I think Americans look at it a bit differently. The salary cap creates even competition amongst teams, it's not really socialist in that regard.

But you gotta understand, some high schools in the US get 20K plus at american football games on average, That being said, head injuries have definitely had a negative impact on kids participation rates in football.

That's why it seems socialist. Football is just rich teams get richer win more get richer win more. I'm sorry to say but when you're great dream is that an Uzbek suspected rapist oligarch buys your club the sport is close to dead.
In the US it appears that they try to keep it competitive and therefore entertaining.
Impossible to do with football at this point.

I rated Naismith. Not a worldie but a solid squad player who got some decent goals. Getting 8m for him at that stage of his career was genius though.
