I know we would all like us to sign 4 or 5 players by tomorrow but I would be reasonably happy if it turns out Bernard is the last signing. I know we need CBs massively and somebody to push Schneiderlin out. It’s the standard of signings we have made which is massive and if it happens that we have to wait another window or two to get the right people rather than rushing tomorrow and not getting the right people.

Well it’s not beyond the bounds of possibility
Everton have good relations with Barca from the Geri transfers
Brands has I’m sure good relations with Barca from his PSV days
We have already purchased Digne from them
Barca are actively trying to sell him and Mina
Silva would know him from his time in Portugal
We need a tall box to box midfielder
Even a loan deal with an option to buy would suit Barca and us.
I’m not saying it will happen but it’s not a major shock it’s being touted

See your point but not moving for at least one CB is negligence that will see us with serious problems.

There’s more than one lesson to learn from last season and not covering weak positions is one.

Can’t say I’ve seen much of him, but I’ve never seen anything that would make me want him near us. Can’t see how he’d get near the spurs side.

Not signing at least one centre back would be as bad as last season's failure to replace Lukaku and failing to get cover for left back. Not signing a centre back should not be an option. (Sorry for the double negative there)

Seriously, Bernard, Mina, Zouma on loan and Gomez and we have had a mindblowing window considering where we were at.

Off bench and fighting for first 11: Gomez, Lookman, Dowell, DCL, Niasse, possibly Sandro off bench is weak but January can help fix that.

No reason that first 11 couldn't beat anyone.
