Manchester United & Everton have opened negotiations for Kurt Zouma
L’Équipe report this evening that Everton & Manchester United are in discussions with Chelsea to sign French central defender Kurt Zouma.
Everton have made a loan offer for the 23-year-old, whereas the Red Devils have opened talks over a permanent transfer.
Chelsea are hesitating over Manchester United’s proposal, because they are unsure of whether or not to sanction the move to a direct rival.
 
Of course this may seem blindingly obvious, but no matter who we sign or let go in this window (and imo it has been so far good) the trick is to have a system with which all players are comfortable, and to instill a team spirit which has been sadly lacking for the past 4 years......and to have an alternative if things wobble with the original plan. I think most of us want this and realise it could be the start of a better future for EFC without having unrealistic expectations about an immediate break into the "top 6" Marco and Marcel....Get the players playing for each other and the fans .....you will reap the benefits !!

I like both the signings to be honest. We are not committed to be fees and are avoiding buying the shiny new thing. Moyes (and to a degree Kendall) signed lads who it hasn't always worked out for them. That can obviously lead to a better price, but also people (and therein footballers) who have had a bit of adversity often have a bit of a chip on their shoulder. This is not to be confused with terminal decline, but guys who are early to mid 20's and got something to prove can be terrific signings.

Gomes to be hasn't been right since about 3 years ago when he had a good season at Valencia. He needs a change. Bernard is more the opposite and seems to be getting better each season which is critical seeing him get used to his size.

After a slow start the window is shaping up very well. We've kept most of the young players, found decent loans for a couple of the younger lads and seem to be adding people at lower prices.

..as you indicate, both are at a good age. Big thing for me is that they play like ‘football matters’. That is the unknown factor but it seems Silva feels he can get the best out of players.

..he’s all I want in an athletic defender with powers of recovery. It seems there is no lost cause in anything played behind the back four in that he can get back. I like the strategy of somebody like him with Mina. Blend in partnership. I can see why he’s been injured lots, though, because he often tackles with his wrong leg and he does throw himself into situations he could be cleverer at.

If Mina arrives, he needs an effective partner.

I'm used to Spurs and West Ham poaching all our targets but not this!
Go find your own players Mourinho.
