Summer 2018 Transfer Window

Lascelles is what Keane SHOULD have been, Tall powerful and quick no nonsense defender. I see someone like Man United getting him though.

It makes more sense when you break it down. Let’s assume no new signings next summer; hypothetically it could look like this:

1st choice: RFM
1st choice: Keane
Reserve: Holgate
Reserve: Jags
Reserve: Williams

Now that above absolutely rinses us in wages. So why not keep a player we already own (Penno) costing us nothing, thus allowing us to bin off the expensive players we’ll hopefully never see:

1st choice: RFM
1st choice: Keane
Reserve: Holgate
Reserve: Penno
Reserve: ??????

It’s saving us a lot of wages and saving us from going out and spending £££ on a back-up CB.

That’s how I see it anyway.
Because Penno is crap and we could have sold him for a few pennies and put it towards a good cb

But why bother when he's realistically not going to play outside of injuries/suspensions? He's gonna be 4th/5th choice and we won't have to go out and spend a fee/wages on a new 4th/5th choice. Logical to me personnally.
Personally would have just hoped for thr next young lad to go into that slot!

...reports suggest Leeds were keen on making the deal permanent. The Club must be wary of him running down his contract. I wonder if they’ll do something similar with Dowell.
Different situations really. Dowell is 3 years younger and, hopefully, still has a very good chance of making it at the club.

Pennington is a strange one. His contract wasn't up until next season and, at 24, could have left on a free with no compensation. I can only think that the club are doing this to preserve a transfer value for the player. I don't think he is the quality we need, even as back up, for the first team.

..I was just thinking Dowell has 2 years left and it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s given a new deal also. Pennington is a surprise given the rumour Leeds were keen to make his move permanent. The club must feel they need to protect their investment.

this thauvin player seems to score quite a few goals for marseille, i know he was a dud at newcastle but they were crap and salah was a dud at chelsea.
Don't think he would leave Marseille for us. If he comes back it will be for a team above us, Arsenal or Spurs.

Silva favourite formation is 4-2-3-1, so I guess our lineup could look something like this:

If we can find decent players for missing spots, we're looking at a good team here I think.

I thougt Dowell only had a year left Eggs. Expect we'll start negotiations when the new DoF comes in.
