I anxiously await the first signing as well. If it is someone like Danny Rose I will be ecstatic.

100% this - one of the top 3 best LB's in the league imo - him and Coleman would be a fantastic pairing.

Sadly I think we'll be trying our hand on £15-20 million punts from Holland and Argentina this window rather than spend £35-40 million per player like the RS on 3-4 top quality players who will massively improve us.

CB: Koulibaly: £60 million
LM: Lozano £25 million
LB: Rose £40 million
CM: Carvalho £30 million

Pickford

Coleman Keane Koulibaly Rose

Gana Carvalho

Walcott Siggurdsson Lozano

Tosun

Stop with the signing of 6-7 average players and bring in 3-4 top quality players with 1-2 cheaper signings/loan deals to compliment the squad if needed.

That would be an amazing window... sadly I think we will be doing the former and bringing in the average players... We will see though

How dare you

Plus I think Koulibaly joins his former coach at Chelsea

The "average" players (minus Bolasie) were supposed to be top quality. Keane, Sigurdsson, Klaassen. Plus we brought in top quality (Tosun/Walcott).

Martina was always just a cheap backup with little impact to anything and Rooney a marketing ploy.

The assumption that keeps passing by people is that players like Kouliably wants to join a currently shambles club like Everton.

I'm actually a little nervous to see who the first player we bring in for proper money is this summer. It will be very telling on what and where we are going.

I don't know, I think bringing in the right player at the right time is telling. Some transfers move at different speeds. I'm not going to get nervous until about five or ten days from the window closing.

Then I'll be hanging up the Marcel de Nederlandse Steve Walsh uit! banners.

Don't even joke :(

Well if SSN is to be believed then Sarri is favourite to replace Conte at Chelsea.
It would not come as a major shock if he went back to Napoli to sign a couple of players.
The only question then would Napoli sell to their former manager or anybody for that matter.
I know his wages are small in comparison to what he could command in the PL

I get paid to watch footy lad - I understand that.

There's plenty of better players than King, in the Premier League and other leagues. Totally get it.

If we're after a quick, classy winger, how about Samu Castillejo from Villarreal, or if we want a box-to-box playmaker, Dani Parejo from Valencia.

A quick, powerful centre-half, maybe Kevin Vogt from Hoffenheim...

I can drop the name game like anyone else. There's risks signing players from lower Prem sides (Bolasie, though injury has to be factored in), but there's also risks signing players from abroad who are in that 'second tier' as well - i.e. Sandro, Klaasen.

But, King is a proven goalscorer in the Prem who can cover three positions along the front line. He's quick and would improve our attacking options.

Like you say, there are loads of players around better than king, and much cheaper if we buy them from foreign league. With all these considered, why should we pay more for an inferior talent?

Premiere league proven don’t mean anything if you see how Keane, siggy Williams and Schneiderlin deteriorate this season.

If we base all recruitment on premiere league experience, we’ll most likely build an ordinary but extremely expensive team. Classic example was last season.

We need players that is above the quality we have now. king is definitely not that level. If he’s not better than Tosun Lookman siggy Walcott what’s the point?

We have more than enough backup now, our future signings must be better and good enough to relegate our existing players to the bench.

You say that, but then you remember Watford taking Cleverley for eight million pounds. Eight! Million!! Pounds!!! We’re boss at getting good money for our dross, and with all the cash sloshing around the game, I don’t see that changing - we’ve got form for doing the same, just with much bigger sums.
Cleverley, for all the stick he takes on here, wanted to play though. Guarantee Watford aren't paying him what we were given he came here on a free. But he was prepared to take a drop to get playing again. Do you think Williams will do that?

We are only a shambles because of our recruitment policy.

Make no mistake £150k+ a week contract offer for the likes of Rose, Carvalho, Lozano etc. Is the difference between EFC being a shambles and a genuine contender for the top 6/trophies - like it was when CFC and MCFC started out.

If we are able/willing to pay those sort of wages to attract said players is another thing.

Rooney
Williams
Mori
Besic
McCarthy or Schnerderlin
Mirallas
Niasse
Martina
Klaassan
Sandro
Vlasic?
Bolasie or Lookman

Assuming all of those or the majority leave in the summer your talking a good 500-600k a week wages off the books. I would rather the club out that towards tempting CL calibre players to the "project" than on 6-7 players on 90/100k a week on players like Mawson and Richarlison.
