Summer 2018 Transfer Window

Exactly. Robinson may well turn out very good. But to take the risk in him and a very quickly ageing Baines would be insane.

But it is Everton so wouldn’t shock me to see it happen.

Baines has a role to play. Unless we sign a very good premiership ready full back any player from another league will probably need some time to settle in. Baines can play that role and get eased out.

This is potentially going to be a very controversial opinion, but....

I wouldn't be too arsed if we started the season with Baines still there as our starting LB with Robinson for backup. Think that potentially has legs for at least one more season.

For me we absolutely need to prioritise three positions in the transfer market - one top quality CB, one top quality CM & another striker.

Trim the fat in the squad, get all of the youngsters back in for pre-season, identify & acquire the right players in the three positions I mentioned and we're already off to a flier imo.

I want us to avoid a complete overhaul in the first summer if possible. If Silva is as good at improving players as people say he is, then let him prove it.

You’re not alone mate tho I prefer to see us sign tierney.

Robinson is not the end of the world. Martina is.

If they think Robinson is not going to make it , then sell him and let him further his career elsewhere.
If , on the other hand , they believe he can become our left back then this season is the time to introduce him into the squad as the understudy to the still able Baines.
I see no value in sending Robinson out on loan again whilst effectively barring his way to the first team by signing a long term left back . It's short term thinking.
At some point you have to let the academy players into our first team squad or we should accept that our academy is run purely to accrue money by supplying the lower leagues with footballers while we wait for the next Rooney to appear.
Personally I think it's time to see if Robinson can step up.

What is the current situation regarding his work permit?

Are we likely to be seeing him at Goodison this season, or are we still looking to loan him abroad again?

Loan more likely as he doesn't fit any criteria for the permit.

Baines is 33, he can compete with him over the next year or two to be the backup left back, playing in cups etc. We don't need to sell him just because we won't see him as first choice, we have loads of money, we don't really need to risk giving youth first team starts out of nowhere, we need to slowly introduce them.
